The Specialist in Cash & Settlements, is responsible for executing settlements and initiating, monitoring and reporting on cash management activities for their allocated region. The candidate will act as a subject matter expert for settlement queries from internal and external stakeholders. Working closely within a team, work will be approached in a methodical and proactive manner and require regular reporting to be designed and delivered with the objective of supporting the overall business strategy and the needs of the Real Estate and Infrastructure investment teams.

Core Responsibilities

Cash Management
- Assist in the implementation of a multi jurisdictional cash management strategy for the Real Estate & Infrastructure Department to optimize the Departments cash position
- Ensure the production of timely and accurate reporting relating to global cash management activities
- Act as point of contact for internal and external stakeholders for settlements and cash management activities
- Assist in the design, implementation and monitoring of cash pooling arrangements across the global portfolio

Settlements
- Service regional financial control teams by executing all transactions in a timely and accurate manner
- Take an active role in taking the responsibility for ensuring investment related settlements are executed in a timely and accurate manner
- Take the lead in dealing with settlement exceptions ensuring they are resolved in a timely and compliant manner
- Work in conjunction with regional financial control and company administration teams to ensure all transactions are appropriately supported from a documentation perspective
- Provide support to team members by reviewing and approving their work
- Review settlements policy exception lists and prepare appropriate reporting output
- Review the set up of Standard Settlement Instructions
- Develop the team process and policy framework drafting and maintaining underlying documentation as required
- Develop and manage key internal relationships within the department, Legal, ITAS, SMS and Operations

Bank Management and Account Administration
- Develop and manage key external relationships with providers including banking partners
- Assist in reviewing performance of incumbent banking partners making recommendations for changes and leading the on-boarding of new providers
- Assist in the rationalization of the number of bank accounts held

Reporting and Analysis
- Support the departmental cash management effort by assisting in the daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly cash reporting requirements
- Assist with credit risk analysis to classify credit exposure by; currency, financial institution, region and entity
- Work in conjunction with the wider cash management team to report (to the Cash Management Working Group) on a quarterly basis the key metrics in relation to cash
- Monitoring on a weekly basis the gross cash deployment to all investments

Business Support and Technology Administration
- Lead special projects to enhance the efficiency of the settlements process and bank account management activities
- Assist with the specification and implementation of forecasting and cash management tool
- Oversee the maintenance of the online banking reporting tool
- Act a lead resource in the specification of IT requirements, review designs and oversee related testing
- Partner with internal departments and sub-functions to understand their reporting requirements, design the output and put sound processes in place to deliver in a timely manner
- Oversee, manage and coach more junior team members and act as sounding board support to line manager
- Assist line manager and senior colleagues in the preparation of presentations to Leadership and other key stakeholders as required

Requirements

- 8 – 10 years experience within a reputable international institution
- Direct experience of management reporting & global settlements function
- Western Educated
- Direct experience of payment and reporting systems, cash management and treasury
- Strong oral and written communication
- Knowledge of SWIFT messaging technology
