Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Senior Technical Writer, Globalization Services, UAE

As market leader in enterprise application software, SAP helps companies of all sizes and industries innovate through simplification. From the back office to the boardroom, warehouse to storefront, on premise to cloud, desktop to mobile device – SAP empowers people and organizations to work together more efficiently and use business insight more effectively to stay ahead of the competition. SAP applications and services enable customers to operate profitably, adapt continuously, and grow sustainably.

The SAP Globalization Services team localizes SAP’s software for use in different countries. The team has software-development locations right across the world, including Brazil, China, Germany, Hungary, India, Portugal, and Russia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

We have an exciting opportunity for a (senior) information developer (technical writer) in Dubai, UAE. You will join our team of around 15 software developers there and your primary task will be to write the documentation for the software that they are developing. Currently they are working on payroll software for use by large enterprises in different countries in the Middle East.

Within our team, we practice a trust-based working model. If you need to work flexibly from another location or at another time you can do so given your manager’s agreement.

For the work done by your scrum teams, your primary responsibility will be:
- Editing user interface texts to ensure usability and people-centricity
- Writing the documentation consultants use to understand, implement and run the payroll software

The software is developed in English and this is the language of the UIs and the documentation.

Over and above this, we encourage you to take an active role in the shaping and development of the solution, for example, by:
- Giving early feedback in design thinking sessions
- Visiting customers and collecting feedback from them

Because you will be the only information developer in that location, the development team will look to you for guidance in the documentation processes and it is important that you have the necessary experience and ability to guide them accordingly.

Requirements

- Understanding of the information development life cycle
- Documentation writing skills
- English to native speaker level
- University degree in technical writing, IT, business, or humanities
- Spoken and written Arabic (preferred)
- At least three years’ experience in technical writing
