Employment: Full Time

Requirements

- Degree qualified
- Ideally Engineering, MSc and or chartered status
- This role requires leading a variety of transport planning studies – large scale transport masterplan assessments as well as traffic impact studies for multi-disciplinary planning projects in the public and private sectors.
- Working closely with Project Managers and other planning department staff to ensure timely completion of the necessary analysis, reports and plans as assigned.
- Must have a minimum of degree in planning or transportation and over 8 years related professional work experience, post university graduation.
- Understanding of transportation planning, development/access planning public transport issues, demand management and the promotion of sustainable modes, transit-oriented development, transport demand theory, parking policies, planning regulations, and other urban planning policies and approaches.
- Capable of presentation of transport planning projects (through all phases) and interpretation of studies to a skilled audience
- Good team player, be able to work well within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects;
- Practical understanding of the role and importance of transport planning in development access, citywide mobility and assisting people’s needs.
- Good client interface skills is essential
- Experience in providing the appropriate junction solutions and the analysis of their impact when undertaking traffic studies
- Contribute to preparation of transport planning reports including existing conditions analyses, trip generation, junction analysis, parking assessment for projects undertaken by the department
- Highly competent to prepare relevant transport study proposals and present these to Approval Authorities to secure approval for the study
- Competence with Microsoft Office suite of software
- Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both written and spoken
- Must be able to learn and retain new skills quickly from a variety of sources
- Must be able to work with limited supervision
- Experience project/financial management
- Competence to assist in growing the Atkins Transport Planning Business as well as to sell Atkins services generally
- Must be familiar with working to Quality Assured Systems
- Experience with model software such as VISUM/VISSIM, CUBE Voyager & SATURN
- Capable of using junction analysis software/microsimulation such as VISSIM, aaSIDRA, SYNCHRO, HCM
- Must be willing to travel internationally

Desirable
- A civil/highway engineering background will be an advantage
- Capable of communicating in Arabic effectively, both written and spoken
- Project experience in the Middle East and familiarity with local trends and transport planning practices and standards
- Experience in statistical analysis and computation
- Market Research experience
- Contribute to the concept and final design and development of land use plans for projects ranging from relatively small plot plans to large masterplans
- Competency with EXCEL software
