Job description / Role
The logistics coordinator is in charge of overseeing a wide variety of events and projects related to services offered by the company. The shipping coordinator is responsible for ensuring that inbound and outbound shipments meet customer and company standards and ensuring that all paperwork for shipped and received items are filed correctly in accordance with company standards.
- Develop positive relationships with freight and external logistics companies
- Investigate and recommend optimal shipping options and coordinate with customers' logistics teams/personnel.
- Coordinate and communicate with external parties to ensure acquisition and delivery of shipments.
- Ensure shipping compliance with state, federal and international regulations
- Keep record of shipments and ensure completed job cards
- Prepare paperwork necessary for shipping, e.g. Bill of Entry, Export Declaration, Bill of Lading, Manifest, Delivery Order etc
- Determine which delivery services each order requires
- Assist sales coordinators to prepare/compile invoices and required documentation for shipments
- Verify incoming shipments by comparing identifying information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Receive goods and ensure they reach the appropriate location and are tracked.
- Organising shipments
- Coordinating drivers, vehicles, loads and journeys
- Operating Cargowise software
- Operating the MERSAL 2 system
- Negotiating vendor prices, e.g. local transportation, warehousing etc
- Developing and confirming schedules
- Preparing paperwork for regulatory bodies, as needed for Iraq (or other country) bound shipments
Requirements
- Preferable graduate with a relevant qualification in distribution, logistics or transportation.
- Experience operating Cargowise software and MERSAL 2 system
- Experience dealing with Iraq
- Fully versed in dealing with Bill of Entry, Export Declaration, Bill of Lading etc
