Structural Engineer

Job description / Role

Key Dimensions:

Directly responsible for the technical delivery of Structural Engineering design on projects within the Design Centre Dubai.


Main Responsibilities:

- Assist the Senior Engineer in preparing Concept and Preliminary designs
- Carry out structural design to British and American Standards
- Working knowledge of relevant structural design software e.g. Plaxis, Robot, ETABS, Staad Pro
- Coordinate with architects, building services engineers, and other structural engineers
- Prepare mark ups for CAD technicians and check drawings when completed
- Carry out arithmetical checks and independent design review of other engineers design
- Responsible for the correctness and accuracy of own work and the work of allocated CAD technicians
- Ensure that allocated works are completed within programme.
- Give site backup on technical/design issues, where required.
- Visit sites to address design related issues as and when required
- Attend meetings with local authorities coordination meetings with other departments and Clients as and when required

Requirements

Requirement:

- Recognised degree in Structural Engineering.
- Developed technical knowledge of Structural Engineering of Building-Type Projects.
- Minimum of 5-7 years professional experience.
- Working towards Chartered Structural Engineer (IStructE or equivalent).
- Proven experience and technical knowledge in Structural Engineering.
- Proven track record of successful contribution to the technical delivery of contract compliant. Structural Engineering designs to budget and programme targets.
- Technical knowledge of Structural Engineering with particular reference to Structural Steelwork, Structural Concrete and associated Structural Analysis and Design/Detailing Software.
- Technical knowledge and experience of European/US-based design codes/standards and Statutory Regulations.
- Ability to contribute to the development of elegant Structural Engineering solutions in close collaboration with other specialists and design groups.
- Confidence to work within multi-disciplinary design environments.
- Excellent planning, time management and communication skills.
