Employment: Full Time

Client is looking for an experienced Student Recruitment Manager to promote a UK university across the UAE and the wider GCC region. Based in Dubai you will travel extensively across the region and be responsible for managing the University office in the UAE, for setting up and implementing the University’s recruitment and marketing strategies in UAE and throughout the Middle East and North Africa region.

You will have regular contact with University partners in the region and participate in recruitment activities as advised by the Head of International Office to maximise the relationship with *INTO, the UAE and Middle East and North Africa region. The candidate will also lead on the strategy and management of the Universities’ portfolio of agents.

Main Duties of the role include:
- Establish evidence-based enrolment targets and recruitment plans for each country within the region, in line with Universities Internationalisation Strategy to maximise recruitment from the region;
- Deliver on international enrolment targets agreed by the University for the region on a yearly basis, and provide regular updates on progress, successes and issues as required;
- Develop appropriate,country-specific promotional and marketing material, including web-based publicity material, to support recruitment in the region and to build the University brand;
- Support the identification and development of new institutional collaborations in the region in accordance with the University’s strategic plans, contributing to the achievement of international recruitment targets at all levels of study;
- To lead on the strategy for management of agents for all regions, to maximise international student recruitment. Support and monitor the performance of the University partner recruitment agencies across the UAE, Middle East and North Africa region to encourage recruitment of students and undertake conversion activities such as attendance at agent exhibitions, counselling interviews and pre-departure briefings.
- Support the INTO Regional Offices and INTO University agents in the promotion of INTO and engage with country / regional management of INTO University Partnerships to determine areas of interest and potential, to secure the maximum return on investment through shared activity;
- Support the development of, and maintain regular contact with the University’s research partner institutions and companies in the region.
- Engage with academic and administrative colleagues within Faculty Recruitment Hubs and Schools at the University to provide strategic and operational insight to the region to ensure appropriate alignment of academic planning and support for recruitment objectives;
- Organise visits and provide support such as high quality market intelligence to staff visiting the region;
- Develop and maintain good relations with key stakeholders such as overseas third level institutions, second level schools and colleges, scholarship bodies, UK government ministries, departments and agencies (including the Foreign Office and the Home Office), the Education UK Partnership, British Council, Invest Northern Ireland, overseas embassies, High Commission offices, relevant foreign embassies and funding agencies;
- Maintain regular contact with the alumni and provide support to the Development and Alumni Relations Directorate with Alumni networks in the region;
- Agree and manage the allocated budget for the region and submit monthly reports on expenditure and income;
- Keep up-to-date with best practice, new initiatives and opportunities relating to this role and maintain a detailed overview of regional government policies relating to Internationalisation. Undertake administrative work including report writing and analysis, and the production of relevant statistical data in the main areas of activity including visits undertaken, events attended, enquiries, student applications and accepts;
- Contribute to the strategic planning of the Universities’ International Office activity and the development of specific strategies designed to support designated Schools and corporate activity;
- Carry out any other duties, appropriate to the post, as may be reasonably requested by the Head of the International Office.

PLANNING AND ORGANISING:
- Plan and organise own and partner activity to ensure achievement of territory targets.
- Plan and execute recruitment and business plan for geographical area. This should reference specialist market intelligence and include detailed timetabling and budget information.
- Agree and deliver against marketing and recruitment targets for specified geographical area.
- Provision of regular management information which will include monthly review against business plan, formal reporting and presentations to department and senior staff at the University in the UK .
- Contribute to the planning of visits by University staff to the region and organise meetings/events in the region as required;
- Organise domestic arrangements in the region e.g. hotels, air travel and transport for visiting staff as required.

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES (e.g. People, Finance, Equipment etc):
- Have overall responsibility for budget for assigned geographical territory.
- Manage partners and budget to achieve set targets.
- Involvement in recruitment and management of a team if required.
- Contribute to overall strategy and budget planning for the Universities’ International Office.
- Responsibility for recruitment and management of agents within specified geographical area and for overall strategy relating to agents.

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:
- Work closely with key stakeholders and students in the region to deal with enquiries and correspondence;
- Provide specialist knowledge and guidance on matters relating to UAE to senior University staff.
- Interaction with relevant academic and academic support staff.
- Work closely with senior INTO staff, staff in University Partnerships, relevant government departments, funding bodies etc.
- Develop a network of external contacts to contribute to specialist knowledge and best practice.

INTO is a partner organisation that develops English language skills for students.

If international students don’t meet the English language requirements for the courses, they can attend an INTO course first of all and then potentially progress to a university course.

Requirements

- A degree or at least four years relevant experience in an international student recruitment role.
- English Language qualification - IELTS Grade 6.5 with no band at less than 6.0 (or equivalent qualification) desirable
- OR a high level of English language, writing and reading
- Formal business or marketing qualification at undergraduate or postgraduate level
- Recruitment experience gained within a similar institution
- Established student recruitment contacts and network within the UAE and wider MENA region, i.e. schools, institutions, agents.
- Experience of managing an office for a minimum of one year.
- Experience of influencing senior representatives from both public and private sectors.
- At least two years’ international student recruitment experience with a track record of delivering stretch targets
- Experience of developing and implementing student recruitment plans to deliver results
- Experience of working effectively with educational agents
- Experience of establishing and developing relationships with institutional partners
- Experience of working with Government and sponsoring agencies
- Ability to interpret market intelligence and to act on it by developing effective strategies to recruit students
- Knowledge of education systems in the region and a working knowledge of the UK education system
- Knowledge of the competitor landscape for international student recruitment
- Working knowledge of visa and English language issues in relation to international student recruitment
- Understanding of cultural issues related to international students
- Extensive presentation and public speaking experience
- Commercial and business development skills
- Experience in the development of printed and digital promotional material
- Experience of co-ordinating student recruitment marketing activity including agent events, educational fairs, school and institutional events etc
- Project management experience
- Budget management experience
- Excellent ICT skills, with recent frequent experience of word-processing; databases and excel.
- Working knowledge of digital and social media channels
- Ability to analyse and present data (including financial information) accurately.
- High level of oral and written communication skills with extensive experience of giving presentations in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with and relate to stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to establish and develop relationships with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Results orientated individual with a strong track record in international student recruitment
- Ability to work on own initiative and provide a comprehensive office support function on behalf of the University.

- Must be a resident in Dubai.

- Willingness to work evenings, weekends and public holidays in accordance with the needs of the post.
- No known impediment to travel in any country.
