Tax Accounting and Risk Advisory Services Manager (TARAS)

Job description / Role

As a Tax Accounting and Risk Advisory Services Manager, you'll combine technical skills with practical commercial, legislative and industry knowledge to provide tax accounting under either IFRS or US GAAP or both; IFRS conversion analysis; and tax performance advisory services tailored to your clients. You'll actively establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships and make sure that the work delivered to clients is of high quality. As part of this, you'll anticipate and identify risks and escalate issues as appropriate. As an influential member of the team, you'll help to create a positive learning culture, coaching and counseling junior team members to help them develop.

Client responsibilities:
- Participate in engagements
- Assist in managing engagement economics by organizing staffing, tracking fees and communicating issues to project leaders
- Participate in business development initiatives
- Build strong internal relationships within Tax Accounting and Risk Advisory Services and across other services

People responsibilities:
- Help people to develop through effectively supervising, coaching and mentoring staff
- Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for staff
- Contribute to people initiatives, including recruiting, retaining and training tax accounting and risk advisory services professionals
- Maintain an educational program to develop personal skills on an ongoing basis
- Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures

Requirements

- Thorough understanding of IFRS accounting standards
- Commercial, legislative and industry knowledge
- Ability to apply our global methodologies and tools
- Ability to apply Quality & Risk Management procedures
- A minimum of six year relevant experience, ideally within a Big 4 or similar environment preferred.
- Must have experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) accounting
- A bachelor's degree with strong academic credentials – taxation, accounting, business, finance or a related field essential. MBA, Masters or another related advanced degree would be a plus.
- Must have ACA/CA or equivalent professional accountancy qualification

- Ability to build strong client relationships and manage multiple client engagements
- Strong managerial, organizational, project management, analytical and verbal/written communication skills
- Ability to identify areas of risk, carry out an effective review and know when to refer upwards
- Strong commercial acumen
- Excellent written and verbal English language skills
- Arabic language skills considered an advantage but not necessary
