Job description / Role

The position is based in Dubai (UAE), a city that offers a unique geographical location to our clients as a hub for the Middle East, Africa and as the gateway between Europe and Asia. As a Tax Accounting and Risk Advisory Services Senior, you'll make technical contributions to your team's engagements and internal projects. You'll actively establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships.

You may participate in preparing or reviewing the tax provision for financial reporting purposes; reviewing and testing a client's tax reporting systems and suggesting improvements; and contributing to the design of effective tax risk management protocols. Working with supervision, you'll contribute to presenting our work and its findings to the client. With a clear focus on anticipating and identifying risks, you'll escalate issues as appropriate.

Collaborating with colleagues, you'll determine whether the work is properly executed, documented and concluded in compliance with our Quality & Risk Management (Q&RM) guidelines. As an influential member of the team, you'll help to create a positive learning culture and will coach and counsel junior team members and help them to develop.

Client responsibilities
- Participate in tax accounting and risk advisory services engagements
- Work effectively as a team member, sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication and updating senior team members on progress
- Assist in preparing reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel
- Build strong internal relationships within Tax Accounting and Risk Advisory Services and across other services

People responsibilities
- Conduct performance reviews and contribute to performance feedback for staff
- Contribute to people initiatives, including recruiting and retaining tax accounting and risk advisory services professionals
- Maintain an educational program to develop personal skills on an ongoing basis
- Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures

Requirements

- Experience with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) accounting
- Commercial, legislative and industry knowledge
- Ability to apply our global methodologies and tools
- Ability to apply Q&RM procedures
- A minimum of four years related tax experience
- Experience working for a Big 4 accounting firm is preferred. However, we will consider candidates with relevant industry experience.

- Excellent communicator in range of situations in both written and oral English
- Ability to identify areas of risk, carry out an effective review and know when to refer upwards
- Client focused and commercially aware
- Team player with ability to build effective relationships at all levels
- Project management skills, plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines, monitor own budget
- Ability to solve problems creatively and pragmatically
- Arabic language skills considered an advantage but not necessary

Additional qualifications (certifications and/or licences if applicable)
- ACA/CA or equivalent professional accountancy qualification or working towards gaining one
