Technical Migration Specialist

Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Work closely with Technical Account Managers and provide timely assistance to complete mission critical migration projects at Thomson Reuters customer locations within stringent time frames
- Assist Technical Account Managers to update the project status in various tools (like Salesforce and Migration portal).
- Produce effective result oriented reports using Microsoft Excel and similar tools
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to track the migration orders at each stage (from initiation to successful completion and customer signoff)
- Identify and remove blockers in the migration to ensure successful completion of each customer migration journey
- Plan and deliver Customer IT trainings, so that customers are able to handle support issues affectively after go live
- Support Technical Account Managers to prepare the necessary documentation like user validation, project updates and provide systematic customer updates
- Coordinate with Client Specialists, Migration project managers, Implementation Engineers, and Customer IT during the migration
- Assume project manager/implementation engineer responsibility as required
- Ensure complete customer site documentation ,Positive closure and sign off of all projects
- Assist Technical Account Managers to collect and report customer feedback and coordinate follow-up/remedial actions
- Assist management to eliminate risks and increase the likelihood of project success through the provision of information, advice, guidance and updates throughout the project lifecycle
- Experience in working within a complex matrix organisation.
- Experience in large scale user migration/upgrades in Information technology, Hardware, Software, Desktops
- Strong Project management skills and Understanding of project management principles and PMI/PRINCE2 Methodology
- Ability to work with virtual teams to successfully deliver projects
- Fully competent in key ICT areas including operating systems, networking technologies, communication technologies, security standards. (including Windows, Java,XML,MS Office, MS Visio, Cisco, TCP/IP, Internet, Firewall, DNS, Server and Desktop hardware, Data Centre environment, Database systems)
- Excellent working knowledge in MS Excel is essential for the success in this role
- Understanding of sales process/lifecycle and experience in Sales and Service Management tools (like Siebel, Salesforce)
- Strong track record of working in a customer facing environment and driving initiatives to improve customer satisfaction.
- Effective customer training ,presentation skills
- A highly committed and motivated person with business and IT lifecycle skills in addition to well-developed interpersonal skills and superior professional with business etiquettes and ethics
- Influencing & innovative skills, negotiation skills
- Possess the ability to multi-task, prioritise and succeed in a mission critical environment
- Customer Relationship Management Skills
- Problem Solving and Decision Making Skills
- Prior experience in planning and delivering IT training – Highly Desirable
- Prior Experience in Banking/Trading room environments - Desirable

Requirements

- Degree in technical or information technology with broad PC, Networking and Technology knowledge & experience.
- Project Management (e.g. Prince, PMP) or service management certification (e.g. ITIL) is an advantage.
- Training/experience in presentation skills and communication skills will be helpful in succeeding in role.
- Examples of successes whilst working in Migration Specialist, Project Manager or Project Coordinator roles.
