Job description / Role
A high profile banking client based in Dubai is actively looking for an experienced Unix Manager to lead a team of Unix-based Administrators required to support core infra services for the bank.
The successful Unix Manager will be responsible for the delivery of all Unix and Storage based offerings, ensuring the agreed SLAs are met, and the integrity of data is preserved.
The role will also involve the continuous improvement, enhancement and growth of the infrastructure and shared services capabilities and offerings, as well as achieving targeted metrics relating to cost, productivity and service quality. Due to the nature of the role, 24 x 7 support, predominantly onsite, will be required.
From a technical perspective candidates are expected to have strong knowledge in as many of the following areas as possible: Solaris , AIX, Linux, Symantec Netbackup, EMC Storage, Midrange systems, IBM Web sphere, Oracle WebLogic.
The successful Infrastructure Manager will also be required to manage capacity, availability and performance of all systems, ensures that all processes and documentation are adequate and effective to meet specifications and audit requirements, including relevant reporting.
Requirements
Experience in managing and developing a team will also be required, as the bank are looking at cross-training and developing skills of employees to help increase knowledge sharing and productivity.
Due to the complexity and critical element of the systems, candidates will need prior experience of working within financial services.
