Civil Engineer - Leeds, UK

Our Leeds Civil engineering group is currently involved in a wide range of challenging and exciting projects, including, amongst others, the NOMA Masterplan in Manchester, Thorpe Park Masterplan in Leeds , and St Peter's Square regeneration in Manchester. We have new and exciting commissions to deliver, and we provide excellent mentorship, training and career progression opportunities: we are looking for a dynamic, motivated and enthusiastic Infrastructure Engineer to provide Civil Engineering design to buildings projects’ drainage and site development, and to assist and contribute to developing the work of the group. The ideal candidate will be approaching chartership, or will be already chartered, however we would also welcome applicants from a Technician background.

The job holder will provide technical and design services to the group on a wide variety of projects ranging from schools, hotels, commercial and residential developments, highways, and infrastructure. There is also scope within the group for the right candidate to lead projects, developing some of the skills required to achieve promotion.

Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake detailed civil engineering design
- Prepare technical schedules
- Plan and manage CAD documentation of design work
- Under guidance of senior staff, represent BH at meetings with the client, other professionals and suppliers
- Ensure service and project work are carried out within agreed deadlines and within budget
- Ensure that appropriate service/design decisions are met
- Coordinating his/her work with other members of the project team
- Actively work towards Chartered Engineering status
- Commitment to CPD and self learning / development

Requirements

- Masters degree (MEng) or Bachelors degree (BEng) in Civil Engineering.
Or
- Degree (BEng/BSc) in Civil Engineering that meets the engineering academic requirements for chartered engineer.
Or
- HNC/HND in Civil Engineering

Required Skills
- Extensive experience in a comparable civils/infrastructure design role.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, AutoCAD
- Strong drainage, external works and earthworks design experience
- Ability to communicate technical subjects
- Ability to work autonomously and make design decisions
- Good communication skills, experience in dealing with other employees and external clients
- Experience of working with contractors in Design & Build type roles
- WinDes MicroDrainage and AutoCAD Civils 3D proficiency

- Mobility to travel
