Employment: Full Time

We are currently recruiting Senior Staff Nurses for the ITU department of the UKs largest independent hospital, located in London.

The ITU unit at this facility comprises of 15 beds and covers all specialties including cardiothoracic, surgical, liver and general patients all with an extremely high acuity. Most cardiothoracic patient are discharged on day 3, post operative and most surgical Liver patients are discharged on day 2 post operation.

You would be joining a specialist medical team that uses the very latest medical technology including the most advanced Da Vinci Robot and state of the art diagnostic imaging equipment. Complimenting this outstanding technology is a close knit team that values both team ethic and the career development opportunities at all levels.

As Senior Staff Nurse, youll assess, plan and deliver care in a fast-paced environment. Youll lead the way with excellent clinical practice, an efficient approach to managing the team and resources, and a clear focus on delivering the highest standards. Youll also be confident in deputising for Sister when required and are happy to share your skills and knowledge by mentoring and inspiring junior staff.

Beyond your day-to-day role, youll also look ahead to lead and take part in research and audit projects, nurturing a learning environment and leading on local teaching initiatives.

Responsibilities
* Regularly deputise for Sister, providing management and leadership in her absence
* Assess, plan and deliver care, based on individual patient and family needs
* Evaluate care of the team and ensure standards are met
* Responsible for the control storage and administration of drugs
* Support and act as role model for junior staff, promoting a learning environment
* To demonstrate good clinical practice at all times and to be accountable for own actions
* Prioritising workloads and directing staff accordingly

Requirements

* Registered Nurse Level 1
* Qualification in Intensive care required.
* UKCC Registration and PREP requirements
* Post registration experience
* Phlebotomy training desirable
* Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures

The successful candidate must have exceedingly good attention to detail and demonstrate excellent team player and motivational skills. Being decisive and willing and able to take on responsibility is essential for the success of this role. The successful candidate will be a role model and have the ability to lead the team ensuring both excellent clinical standards and customer care skills are of the highest standard.
