Practice Leader, Onshore Structural Engineering - Houston

We have an opportunity in Houston for a highly experienced practitioner to assume the role of Onshore Practice Leader within our structural engineering team. The position is ideal for an individual who is experienced in aspects of structural engineering where natural, accidental and malicious events can lead to a consideration of hazards such as explosions, fires, impacts, earthquakes, tsunami’s etc. It provides an opportunity for a dynamic and experienced individual to assume a senior management role within our Clients objective of growing the structural practice in Houston.

The successful applicant will be involved in the structural assessment and design of new buildings and structures, along with the assessment and upgrade of existing facilities. Much of this work will be associated with with high hazard sites such as refineries, petrochemicals facilities and onshore oil and gas production/processing sites, along with buildings and structures which may be subject to security threats. It is essential for the Practice Leader to have a sound knowledge of dynamic and non-linear analysis techniques to analyze the response of structures to loads such as blast, fire, impact, and earthquake, and to be able to design and upgrade facilities to resist those loads. The individual should also be comfortable in working alongside safety engineering professionals, who will provide input on loading and performance requirements, as part of an integrated team that helps clients manage risk to their sites.

The selected candidate will need to demonstrate and provide superior technical, managerial, and business development expertise in the marketplace. He or she will have full technical responsibility for scoping, performing, and delivering multiple concurrent project assignments, with the associated responsibility for meeting profitability, quality management, and safety goals. Consistent with our sell-manage-do business model, our selected candidate(s) would also be expected to play a leadership role in helping build the future of our local practice through lead generation, business development, project management, staff management and development, and mentoring. Key success factors for this role are the ability to find and develop market opportunities while building a strong and vibrant execution team

Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess exceptional leadership, business development, technical and writing skills, have a commitment to technical excellence and quality and be capable of leveraging his/her existing professional network to showcase the Client’s advanced engineering capability and ultimately deliver a continuous stream of challenging projects to the Firm. The selected candidate also will be expected to have a proven track record for developing strong client relationships that can be leveraged to provide a continuous work stream for the structural team, along with other disciplines.

This is a senior position within the Houston operations and we are seeking an individual who has the attributes necessary to grow and sustain our onshore structural engineering practice.
