JOB TITLE: Electro Arc Welder

JOB TYPE: Contract (Full time)

WORK PERIOD: 40 months

Nationality: Filipino

SALARY: Excellent

COMPANY AND LOCATION:
The client is a large construction company specialised in construction of industrial and technological facilities in the oil and gas industry. They are one of the recognised leaders in the market of oil and gas development in Central Asia and Russia. The job holder will be based at the project office/ site in Uzbekistan.

SUPERVISOR/MANAGER:
Site Construction Manager

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Welds together metal components of products, such as pipelines, automobiles, boilers, ships, aircraft, and mobile homes, as specified by layout, blueprints, diagram, work order, welding procedures, or oral instructions, using electric arc-welding equipment: Obtains specified electrode and inserts electrode into portable holder or threads consumable electrode wire through portable welding gun.
- Connects cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse
- Starts power supply to produce electric current.
- Strikes arc which generates heat to melt and deposit metal from electrode to workpiece and join edges of workpiece.
- Manually guides electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle.
- Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions.
- Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
- May manually apply filler rod to supply weld metal.
- May clean or degrease weld joint or workpiece, using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath.
- May repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
- May prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces.
- May chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter, using hand scraper or power chipper.
- May preheat workpiece, using hand torch or heating furnace.
- May position and clamp workpieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE:
- More than 5 years for gas/refinery/petrochemical plants in EPC Company
- Served as a electro arc welder with Short Arc Experience.

SKILLS:
High school diploma or similar qualification certification of electro arc welding or other recognized body to demonstrate proficiency in specialized welding processes such as SMAW, FCAW etc.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Read and interpreted all drawings and schematics affiliated with the job
- Certified to weld electro arc, copper nickel, and stainless steel in all positions (6G) and restricted (GTAW)
- Install and maintain various types of metal parts and equipment utilizing oxyacetylene and electric arc welding;
- 3 + years of industrial construction/Oilfield construction/Pipeline construction preferred!
- Current/valid driver’s license
- Read blue prints, ISO drawings, and can pass Peak pipe fitter test.
- Education: High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) Preferred
- Experience –3+ years' welding experience preferred, 3 Year pipeline experience at a minimum. Must pass the prescribed weld test.
- Must have a working knowledge of various welding codes, specifications, techniques and methods.
- Must be familiar with properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage and welding techniques

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience –3+ years' welding experience preferred, 3 Year pipeline experience at a minimum. Must pass the prescribed weld test.
- Must have a working knowledge of various welding codes, specifications, techniques and methods.
- Must be familiar with properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage and welding techniques
- Knowledgeable in translating some project blueprints
- Welding out vessels, generators, stainless steel vessels, skids inside and out to perfection, and welding out 2'/3' pipe.
