Course Overview

Biomedical science covers the science underpinning medical applications, from basic biology to specific disease processes. Deakin's Bachelor of Biomedical Science focuses on causes, diagnosis and treatment of disease at the molecular, cellular and system levels. You will learn from both scientific and health perspectives, and will gain practical experience in the laboratory.

Course content

This course is comprised of 24 credit points, including:

  • 15 core units
  • 6 major sequence units
  • 3 zero-credit-point units (laboratory and fieldwork safety, work placements and academic integrity).

You will have the opportunity to explore a range of elective units across the University. These may include studies in psychology, nutrition or animal behaviour. Exploring these different areas means you gain a holistic perspective of biomedical science and the many fields in which biomedical science professionals work.
