Course Overview

Explore the design of physical environments - from residential to commercial to industrial. Deakin's Master of Architecture will develop your skills and knowledge in architectural design research, urban ecologies and contexts, project evaluation, and performance- measured sustainable design. All of these skills are expected in modern professional practice. Deakin's School of Architecture and Built Environment has an open and engaging environment that strengthens the school community and enhances our students' learning experience. Facilities include a well-equipped workshop with 3D printers, CNC routers and 2D laser cutters; and an extensive design studio accessible 24 hours, seven days a week.

Accreditation

Deakin University's Master of Architecture is accredited by the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA), Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA) and the Architects Registration Board of Victoria (ARBV). It is also recognised by the Board of Architects Malaysia (Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia).

Course content

This course is comprised of 16 credit points, including:

  • 9 core units (totalling 12 credit points)
  • 4 elective units
  • 2 zero-credit-point compulsory units.

You will also undertake advanced studies in cultural, technological, design, environmental and theoretical knowledge. Plus, you will study the ethical and evaluative frameworks that underpin the architecture field.
