Sardinian also known as Sardu, limba Sarda, lingua Sarda or Sard is the language of the Sardinians in Italy. Sardinia is the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea (after Sicily and before Cyprus) and an autonomous region of Italy.
Sardinian derives from the ancient Latin of the Romans, andis a Romance language closely related to Italian. Although the first language of Sardinia is Italian, the rich language of Sardinian is widely spoken, varying from area to area, even from village to village. A living, breathing language for sure!
