University of Leicester MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL

The MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL is postgraduate qualification designed by the School of Education at the University of Leicester, aimed at teachers and English language training professionals looking to enhance their academic qualifications and their career/professional development.

Delivered online via the University of Leicester Virtual Learning Environment called Blackboard, the programme consists of webinars, seminars and workshops,combined with tutorial support from the university.

The programme consists of 3 core and 2 optional modules, followed by the final dissertation.

The modules are assessed through written assignments, presentations or project work, depending on the particular module.

Applicants should normally be teachers or working in the English Language Teaching (ELT) field, with at least a second class honours degree or its equivalent from a non-UK university (GPA 3.0 or above) plus two years’ full time english language teaching experience.

Those who are not native speakers of English need to have a proficiency level equivalent to GCSE Grade C, IELTS 6.5 (minimum of 6.0 in each element) or TOEFL 575 paper/IBT 90 (including a minimum of 4.0 in the TWE); Cambridge Proficiency Grade C or above.
