Power Transmission Specialist

Job description / Role

Currently working with a large International Design based Consultancy on a very challenging project in Afghanistan.

The business has a proven track record in Transmission & Distribution projects offering a complete life-cycle service from concept to commissioning and are now looking for a Power Transmission Specialist to work closely with their other specialists in country.

Responsibilities:
* Overall responsibility of managing/supervising the team of consultants, for the supervision, planning and coordinating construction and erection activities of the project
* Review of overhead transmission line design, OPGW-design, installation, testing and commissioning of 500 kV and 220 kV transmission lines
* Review and update preliminary project cost estimates, list of materials, equipment, and works necessary to implement the projects
* Coordinate and supervise the design, specification, evaluation, purchase and maintenance of computer and electronic control systems, advanced instrumentation and man-machine interface concepts

Requirements

* Preferable Senior energy economist or electrical engineer or higher degree from an accredited University
* In depth experience covering studies, planning, programming, and managing power high voltage power transmission lines projects in various countries
* 10 years experience will be in developing countries ideally with experiences in Afghanistan or other post-conflict environments
* Ability to write effectively in English
