Our client is a leading travel retail company. They are currently looking to recruit a Business Development Manager to be based in Bahrain

The role of the Business Development Manager will be to support the Director – Global Business Development and manage the day-to-day aspects of THE COMPANY Business Development department. This is to include commercial evaluation of opportunities, project managing bid response projects, resolve planning issues, and monitor progress and budgets. In addition, the holder of this role will support in identifying new tender and M&A opportunities for the company and engage in prospecting activities on behalf of THE COMPANY in all regions.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provide support in the search for new business opportunities and develop market insights on competitors, airports and partners.
• Evaluate and present potential business development targets that align with THE COMPANY's strategic direction.
• Keep updated pipeline of opportunities in line with strategic objectives of the company.
• Maintain updated Business Development Client Relationship Manager (CRM) database with contact information on partners, airports, clients and suppliers.
• Engage in prospecting activities, meeting clients/partners for all regions.
• Execute pre-marketing activity plans.
• Support the successful re-tendering of current operations and new tender responses and preparation.

Project Manage Tender processes:
• Planning and tracking for multiple parallel projects including identifying and managing project milestones.
• Managing and monitoring the project activity through detailed plans and schedules.
• Liaising with project stakeholders on a regular basis.
• Preparing project status updates and executive summary reports.
• Formulating and managing communications plans.
• Coordinating executive and board approvals processes for THE COMPANY business development projects.
• Ensuring company risk policies are adhered to.
• Accurate and timely problem identification and resolution.
• Budget bid projects and monitor cost incurred, ensuring projects fall within allocated budget and THE COMPANY’s overall Business Development budget.

• Understand and be totally immersed in opportunities in the market and competitor activity to enable THE COMPANY’s successful growth.
• Assist with bid and M&A input support as needed.
• On securing new business provide assistance in the business set ups and transfer appropriately to the Implementation Team in accordance with agreed process.
• Support Joint Venture relationship management.
• Enhance the reputation of THE COMPANY in the travel retail industry and amongst clients/partners (through performance delivery), shareholder and stakeholders.
• Provide support in managing relationships with key target suppliers in maintaining the business’s place as ‘’partner of choice’’.
• Provide Business Development Management Reports for key stakeholders, including THE COMPANY Executive and Board.

Key strategic challenges include:
• How to achieve growth when the competitor set are strong / established and are all ‘’chasing’’ the same new markets.
• How to be ‘’world-class’’ in each market.
• How to be relevant to the customer base (Airport Operators / supplier brands and individual consumers) now and in the future.

Requirements

• Business Degree (Masters desirable).
• Excellent oral and written skills (job holder will be expected to present at THE COMPANY Executive at Board levels).
• Financial modeling (desirable).
• 4 years’ relevant job experience.
• Previous experience in airport and or retail desirable.
• Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Flexibility as the job holder will be required to travel often on short notice and work on tight deadlines
