Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Manager within the Global Business Development, based in Bahrain to support the Global business. This role will support the Director – Global Business Development with a key focus on growing the business. In addition to providing support in identifying new opportunities the role holder will be responsible for evaluating all commercial aspect of the opportunities including revenue estimation and forecasting together with due diligence on OPEX.
The role holder will be responsible for co-ordinating all commercial inputs to the bidding/transaction process, including HR, design, category and customer insights. He/she will also be directly responsible for operational input to the process.

Please note that this position is based in the Middle East (Bahrain).

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Provide support in the search for new business opportunities
- Evaluate potential business development targets that align with the company's strategic direction.
- Assist in pre-marketing activity for target markets
- Develop market insights on revenues, opex, capex for target markets
- Support the successful re-tendering of current operations and new tender responses and preparations
- Lead all operational input to bid documentation and financial model
- Coordinate with HR to develop job descriptions, training requirements, organisation structure and local staff rates for input to bid process.
- Plan brand and margin requirements and oversee negotiations with suppliers. Ensure Blended Margin is in line with the overall Global Buying strategy.
- Provide Business Plan variables, including SPP, Net Margin, Staff Costs, Stock Holdings, Warehouse costs and any other OPEX and CAPEX costs required in the plan.
- Coordinate inputs to bid documentation and financial models relating to design, category and customer insights
- Understand and be totally immersed in opportunities in the market and competitor activity to enable company’s successful growth
- On securing new business provide assistance in the business set ups and transfer appropriately to the Implementation Team in accordance with agreed process.
- Support joint venture relationship management
- Enhance the reputation of the company in the travel retail industry and amongst suppliers (through performance delivery), shareholder and stakeholders
- Provide support in managing relationships with key target suppliers in maintaining the business’s place as ‘’partner of choice’’

Requirements

Qualifications:

- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline.
- Strong financial and commercial awareness and proven experience in the areas of bids, tenders and pricing.
- Candidate should have experience in travel retail industry
- Very strong retail operations experience
- Profit & loss experience
- Preferably has experience of new business development in a global context
- Strong relationship management experience with a proven ability to influence stakeholders, partners and clients.
- Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects and activities simultaneously.
- Strong marketing experience with a clear understanding of marketing terminology, research tools and techniques, principles and practices.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and conflicting demands.
- Proven self-starter, comfortable taking ownership of issues and working on own initiative.
