Credit Risk Manager

Job description / Role

Our client, a financial institution has a vacancy for their Bahrain office.

Responsibilities:
• Draft / review Credit Frameworks and Policies and to list what goes into a credit framework; delegation limits, risk appetite, etc.
• Challenge credit decisions and not just review credit applications as part of a checklist (e.g. instead of checking whether the application is within the approval limit, able to justify the rationale or the logic of the approval / recommendation, etc.) through providing a review of underwriting quality, review cycles, rating accuracy, documentation quality, etc.
• Understanding of credit models , provisioning rules, etc. Able to validate the same and question feedback.
• Be involved or have an understanding of credit portfolio management, e.g. concentrations, early warning signals, trends, weak sectors, sovereign risk, etc. and raise flags.
• Sufficient understanding of stress test / scenario analysis.
• Understanding of credit risk appetite and ability to design reports around it.
• Experience of presenting to credit committees and regulatory engagement is desired.

• Bachelor’s/master’s in finance, Economics, or Risk Management.
• 10+ years’ experience at Credit Risk, at least 3 years in retail Credit Risk management. SME credit experience a plus
• Professional Certification PRM, FRM and CFA (Preferred)
• Demonstrate familiarity with Credit Risk Management Regulation & Standards, IFRS 9, and Basel credit principles.
•Model risk governance familiarity.
•Knowledge of concentration risk, large exposures, connected counterparties, and distressed asset management.
•Proficiency with risk MI, data validation, and visualization tools.
• Local candidates.
