Atkins has an established team delivering resilience solutions for government and commercial clients in the transportation, utility and related sectors both in the Middle East and global businesses. We provide a wide range of services including business continuity, emergency planning, crisis management, contingency planning, security, disaster and risk management.

We are currently looking for an experienced Design Site Coordinator to work as part of our growing team in the Kingdom of Bahrain. You will use your experience to manage, co-ordinate and monitor our project delivery, making sure that the projects are completed within safety, time, cost and quality parameters, including coordination with all consultants, contractors, agencies and departments involved, thus ensuring smooth progress of the work.

Responsibilities
• Design management
• Relationship management and liaison with clients and third parties
• Programme coordination between Atkins and Client delivery schedules
• Monitor design progress (flow of information from client/contractor to Prime designer)
• Monitor submissions to Clients and Authorities
• Contribute to execution plan / procedures / overall design / construction schedule
• Technical query management
• RFI database and management
• Change control management
• Contribute to discussions on Buildability, and Health and Safety
• Contribute to discussions on Value Engineering and Risk Evaluation
• Prepare and submit progress reports
• Support local business development activities in accordance with agreed country strategy
• Supervising a design team on a specific project
• Define and schedule work assignments.
• Prepare transmittals, drawing indexes and review drawings
• Prioritize tasks and monitor progress in order to meet completion dates.
• Collaborate with team members regarding progress checks, reallocating work as necessary to meet schedule deadlines.
• Coordinate tasks as required with client and contractor teams
• Preparing documents associated with construction and project management;
• Organize drawings and CAD standards for project documentation. Maintain CAD and network files.
• Coordinating, preparing and distributing daily reports;
• Maintaining safety postings, safety meeting minutes and safety log sheets; and
• Respond to design related RFI’s
• Design coordination with contractors and authorities.
• Respond to developer enquiries and provision of advice on design interpretation and clarification on issues related to Design.
• Attend meetings with Contractors, Consultants, Authorities and other stake holders.
• Other duties consistent with the position as reasonably determined by the person to whom you provide assistance.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related and ideally chartered (or equivalent)
• 10 - 15 years of experience in design preferably as design manager / coordinator and construction of major utilities projects
• Experience in managing a project team
• Advanced negotiation skills
• Commercial awareness
• Gulf experience
• Coaching, mentoring and Delegation skills
• Articulate with Excellent communication skills (in English language)
• Confident
• Approachable and Collaborative
• High level of attention to detail
• Constantly seeks improvement
• Knowledge of CAD systems.
• Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook and web-based work platforms);
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
• Strong organization, multi-tasking and time management skills;
• Experience in a construction environment is an asset.
