Company
Our client is a Bahraini based Wholesale Bank licensed by CBB, offering a wide range investment banking services. They are currently looking to recruit a Head of Risk (Credit)

Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and implement an overall risk management framework for the organization.
- Implement and periodically review the risk management policies and procedures and ensure they are in line with the Board’s risk appetite and the regulatory framework.
- Ensure adequacy of risk management processes, systems and staff skills.
- Ensure that the bank’s risk management capabilities are sufficiently robust and effective to fully support its strategic objectives and all of its risk-taking activities.
- Promote a strong risk culture in the organization and building risk awareness amongst staff by providing support and training.
- Submit quarterly or earlier as required, a detailed Risk Report covering various risks to the Board Risk Committee/Board.
- Evaluate the process to mitigate and control risks on an ongoing basis.
- Review Investment and Credit Proposals and provide risk management advice.
- Closely monitor the investment and credit book to identify and mitigate potential risks while ensuring adherence to limits.
- Monitor the bank’s liquidity position to ensure liquidity gaps are manageable and can be adequately funded even under stress scenarios.
- Liaising with various departments & subsidiaries of the Bank to ensure that operational risk self-assessment is carried out and conducting workshops to raise awareness of operational risks.
- Coordinate with Financial Control Unit for areas required risk management inputs (eg: IFRS 9 ECL calculations, LCR/NSFR review etc.)
- Undertaking the ICAAP exercise by liaising with management and other units.
- Training and mentoring of risk management staff.
- Review and close internal audit/external audit and CBB inspection comments pertaining to the department and also review audit reports for all units.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree with additional certifications like FRM/PRM/IRM.
- 10-15 years’ experience in Risk Management
- Risk Management
- Candidate must be based in Bahrain
- Bahraini preferred
