Main Purpose of the Job:
To carry out General Inspections, maintain the structures database and produce reports, considering the needs of key stakeholders, budgets and programme. To assist with handover inspections and special inspections And where under training: To seek every opportunity to gain experience in and extend knowledge of the civil engineering profession with the aim of becoming qualified at the earliest opportunity.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:
* To support the Structures Team
* Manage external resources used.
* To support the preparation of reports and other deliverables for the structures schemes.
* To help with the design of small works where appropriate and meet the expected levels of technical excellence.
* To ensure quality systems are followed in the execution and reporting of inspections.
* To undertake regular training reviews and continue professional development as appropriate.
* Coaching, mentoring and training younger/less experienced colleagues
* Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm

Requirements

* Minimum Bachelors degree in civil or structural engineering
* At least 10 years' experience post qualification; experience in bridges and structural design is preferred
* Competence in Structural Inspections; basic skills, knowledge and understanding of structural design
* Understanding of H&S Requirements related to Structural Engineering
* Understanding of Environmental Requirements
* Basic knowledge of Quality Management; minimum of in-house training on the QMS
* Good communication skills
* Relevant to Structural Engineering Inspections experience
* Knowledge of the use of basic computer programmes/database
* Recent experience of coordinating interfaces with other stakeholders
* Ability to work on site, at height, over bridges, or roads.
