Legal Advisor

Our Client is currently looking for an experienced and competent Commercial / Contracts Lawyer with experienced gained in a top tier International / Regional law firm. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to join one of the leading Business Groups in the GCC.

Duties & Responsibilities;
• Ensure the Company\'s compliance with applicable rules and regulations with respect to company dealings.
• Ensure the Company is updated on related developments.
• Develop Company documentation to reflect best business and professional standards.
• Ensure Company’s best interest is protected and minimizing Company liability in dealing with third parties through contractual arrangements.
• Advise on / review / prepare contractual agreements with third parties, for and on behalf of all business units of the Company.
• Keep the Company updated on relevant applicable laws and regulations and their amendments.
• Standardise all types of agreements governing the relationship of the Company with third parties.
• Review, prepare and advise on documentation relating to any transaction undertaken by the Company with third parties.
• Advise on litigation and arbitration matters and liaise and coordinate with law offices, in and outside the GCC, to ensure Company’s best interest and non-violation of any applicable laws.
• Advise and process requirements with the regulatory authorities, pertaining to subsidiaries to be established or already established by the Company, such as review of constituent documents, amendments to constituent documents etc.

Requirements

• Very strong Commercial contracts background (reviewing and advising in relation to them; negotiating them; and amending/drafting them). This Commercial contracts expertise could potentially have been gained in a Commercial dispute-resolution practice context. The Commercial expertise is the essential part; but dispute-resolution experience would be an asset. Familiarity with Corporate law would be a plus, but is not the main focus for this role.
• Time spent with a recognised international law firm is essential. Previous experience as part of an in-house Legal department, in addition, would be a strong plus.
• (Whether or not a native English speaker,) excellent written and spoken English language fluency (including “legal” English) is essential. Proficiency in Arabic would be a plus, but is not required.
• Someone already based in the GCC is preferred.
• Ideally, between 4–7 PQE.
• The ability to manage working in a high-pressure environment is critical. A “team” ethos is very important, but the candidate must nevertheless be self-starting and able to work independently.
