Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

• Performing internal Shari’a Audit to satisfy compliance by perusing a selected sample of the Bank/Branch’s transactions.
• Provide regular reports to the Shari’a Board and to the bank senior management, such reports include the findings of review and periodical investigation of Bank activities.
• Participating in the meetings of the Shari’a Board, and posting questions and seeking clarifications concerning Shari’a compliance issues relevant to the Bank activities.
• Participate in examining proposals of contracts and products relevant to the Bank work and activities.
• Participate in introducing new contracts and developing products, and effectively contributing to preparing and articulating those contracts.
• Participate with the members of the Shari’a Board in representing the Bank in intellectual, jurisprudence and scholarly meetings, seminars and symposiums that are interested in Islamic investment and banking; attending jurisprudence circles and associations locally and abroad as much as possible; and providing the Bank management with synopsis of those activities.
• Educate the Bank employees on basic principles in order to promote their jurisprudence awareness in relation to the Bank transactions together with a general knowledge of Islamic Finance transactions, propose seminars and training programs , deems needed as he interacts with the working apparatus of the Bank in coordination with the management in-charge of training.
• Answer questions and clarifications sought by clients and employees concerning the shari’a correctness of some procedures or transactions, and clarifying the viewpoint of Shari’a Board, if any, otherwise he refers them to the Shari’a Board to provide answers.
• Follow up and prepare for the meetings of the Shari’a Board, monitoring the findings and recommendations that are issued at these meetings, and steadily provides departments with such findings and recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in a business related filed.
• Master’s Degree is preferable.
• 3-4 years of relevant compliance experience in an Islamic bank.

Skills:
• Thorough understanding of the industry and its applicable regulatory requirements.
• Excellent leadership skills and delegation skills assuring a highly cross-trained staff
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written.
