252 - Procurement Category Analyst

We are looking for a Category Analyst for our IOC procurement organization based in Sept-Iles, Qc. The Category Analyst will negotiate and purchase equipment & services related to IOC’s operation in Labrador City and Sept-Iles.

This role is a great opportunity for a Procurement professional to develop and execute sourcing projects which contribute to the delivery of commercially favourable contracts and deliver optimal value to IOC’s operation. You will:

• Negotiate and issue purchase orders for equipment, services and consultants
• Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers.
• Familiar with standard procurement concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Capable to work in an environment where immediate assistance is required and constant follow-up to the various situations is a must.
• Extract, manipulate and interpret data from procurement and project management systems (ex: SAP)
• Use Data to analyze and present business recommendations
• Conduct analysis and spend tracking to support the category teams
• Drive effectiveness and efficiency in procurement processes and report both internally and externally with suppliers
• Develop and enhance reporting systems; create and deliver insights in written and presentation formats
• Interface with Buy Team and Category Specialist to support progress on transactional improvements
• Rely on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks.
• Work under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
• Ensure all projects are managed and delivered following the requirements outlined in Rio Tinto Procurement and Group Policies, Standards and Guidelines.
• Work to strategize the repairables commodity and drive improvement in the process.

Requirements

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

• Bachelor Degree in Business, or equivalent experience
• Experience with the SAP system.
• Minimum of 3 - 5 years of procurement & supply chain experience
• Previous experience with multi-national companies in Manufacturing, Utilities, Automotive, Rail or Fast Moving Consumer Goods industries
• Health and safety consciousness, adhere to a strict code of ethical conduct.
• Understanding of negotiation and persuasion skills and ability to draft a low level negotiation strategy and plan.
• Sound communication, Analytical thinking, presentation and operations analysis skills
• Bilingual in English and French, both written and verbal
