Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Project Director
Major Complex Building projects
Tier one main contractor
Relocation to Vancouver, Canada

Where?
Vancouver is a vibrant and diverse city located on the west coast of Canada. This bustling metropolis boasts a lively cultural scene, picturesque nature, and delicious cuisine. It's also known for its sustainability initiatives, world-class sporting events, and proximity to some of North America's best skiing and snowboarding destinations. The locals are friendly and welcoming, with a laid-back attitude that perfectly reflects the city's casual vibe. Whether you're strolling through one of its trendy neighbourhoods or taking in the breathtaking views from atop Grouse Mountain, Vancouver never fails to captivate visitors from all over the world. It truly embodies what living in Canada is all about: diverse, inclusive, and always adventurous!

Who?
Our client is one of Canada's largest and best contractors, with an enviable reputation for delivering complex projects successfully. With over 90 years of experience in the industry, this company has built an impressive portfolio of successful projects across the country. Their focus on innovation, sustainability and community engagement sets them apart from their competitors, ensuring that they always deliver the highest quality results for their clients. In addition to their exceptional construction services, they also prioritize safety and environmental responsibility throughout each stage of a project.

Why?
Within their British Columbia business unit, they have a number of complicated major projects on the horizon and they need to expand their leadership team with the recruitment of individuals capable of bidding and delivering these schemes. Our client is well placed to capitalise on the upcoming major projects if they have the right people in the right places at the right time. In both Vancouver and Vancouver Island, there are complex design & build projects in excess of CD$500 million that will be awarded in late 2023 and early 2024. For instance, a new CD$1.5 Billion hospital in Prince George, a sizable ferry terminal to act as port of entry from the US on Victoria Island and an Emergency Response Building in downtown Vancouver.
The leadership team have been looking to grow their delivery capability for these projects but have not found the right individuals with suitable experience and attributes within BC. As three of the management team all came from outside of Canada, there is the believe that the right people could be found from international locations and sponsored to work in Canada. The expectation would be that successful candidates would come to Canada and settle for the minimum life cycle of these major projects - so a 3-4 year commitment, but ideally, they would be permanently relocating to BC and be the future leadership team when the current team retire.

What?
The Project Director will be fully responsible for leading a high-profile project from tender and award, through site delivery and construction, to commissioning and completion / final handover. This includes leadership of a large main contractor and sub-contractor team. The role reports directly to the Director of Operations and the Vice President. The role has a team, but the size and structure of the team will depend on project needs.

Salary:
USD 180,000 to 200,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.
Additional benefits: + car allowance and full family relocation

Requirements

On Offer?
This is a Permanent Full time employed role with upward trajectory for promotion. On offer is a competitive salary - circa CD$250-280k gross per annum, full family relocation package and visa sponsorship, Family Medical Insurance, Employee Share Purchase Plan, Retirement Savings Program and other benefits.

You?
For you to have the experience needed, our client would be looking for you to demonstrate the following experience:
1. Experience of delivering large scale, technically complex Design & Build projects in excess of US$200 million from inception to completion.
2. Been number one on the project for a recognised large main contractor
3. Stable career with clear evidence of progression and achievement in contracting employers
4. Experience in all forms of contract
