Our client school is a top British international school that opened in September 2015 in the beautiful surrounds of Chengdu city, Sichuan province. Chengdu is a vibrant and bustling city with a population of almost 8 million people. The city is regarded as one of the most livable cities in China for an expat community which is well served by a variety of malls, restaurants, bars and parks. With a large modern international airport Chengdu is a great base to explore China and abroad with airlines offering a variety of routes to European and Asian destinations. The city has a modern metro system so it is easy to navigate. Sichuan is famous for its spicy cuisine and local hotpot but the city also has a range of western options in the sleek Tai Koo Li district. All that without mentioning the main local attraction-Pandas! People flock from far and wide to see this national treasure living in the open spaces of the reserves built to protect and breed this amazing animal.

Job Purpose: To provide high quality teaching and learning of Art within the Art department; to assist the Head of Department with raising the profile of the subject throughout the school

Key responsibility/Accountability
• To teach Art throughout Grades 7 – 13
• Implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated Art curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate
• To teach the subject throughout IGCSE, AS and A level
• To be involved with other aspects of school life associated with the subject, such as organising appropriate educational trips and visits
• To assist the HOD with developing Schemes of Work
• To play a part in the broader life and running of this international boarding school
• To encourage and support the use of ICT in lessons
• To monitor your classes’ work and assessment grades and keep pupil achievement records
• To take intervention actions when assessment and report grades identify a cause of concern regarding a students’ progress your class
• To support and work collegiately with other members of the department
• To write reports and enter assessment grades when required
• To assist the HOD with preparation of up to date set lists when requested
• To take an interest in all pupils in your classes
• To support and work with the Departmental team (including administrative support staff where appropriate);
• To assist the HOD with the analysis of examination results when requested
• To seek out and share teaching resources with colleagues
• To be responsible for your classroom
• To attend parents meetings and other school events as directed by the Headmaster
• To play a full role in the active life of a full boarding school.
• To offer at least one extra-curricular activity to the students in .
• To be committed to the ideal of a holistic education for all.
• To assist with any other duties, tasks or jobs as may be reasonably requested by the Headmaster or his Deputies. January 2018

Salary:
AED 10,000 to 15,000 per month inclusive of fixed allowances.

Requirements

Person Specification
• Organised and committed to the job role
• Experience of working in a teaching position in this subject area for at least two years
• Educated to degree level and hold qualified teacher status
• Excellent writing skills
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
• Operate as an effective team member
• Clear and confident communication skills, able to liaise at all levels and with all members of the school community

• Relevant professional qualifications and experience
• Evidence of working successfully in a relevant school context
