Job description / Role
Our Client, a leading global organisation, is looking for a young and energetic CTO, to join their team in Shanghai, China. The main purpose of the role is to spearhead the company-wide technical vision, providing leadership and hands-on support. Passion and energy are as important as curiosity and forward thinking. You will ensure the team develops new product features to keep ahead of the game. You will ensure that the company services are secure, responsive, scalable, highly available and resilient in the face of failure. An articulate thought-leader with strong technology experience you’ll be taking the company’s current technology to the next level.

The key responsibilities of the role, are as follows:
• To develop and implement strategic and tactical IT plans in support of the company’s business plan and long-term goals and objectives;
• To direct the operations of the Information Technology department, including the systems development, application support, computer operations, PC and network support functions;
• To identify innovative technology-related opportunities, for delivering the company’s services by understanding technology trends and applying them;
• To identify competitive advantages and technological trends for the benefit of a company. Develop and direct the design and development of new systems and the improvement of existing systems;
• To ensure sufficient resources are obtained and maintained to minimize disruption of business operations dependent on technology;
• To optimize the platform with regards to security, reliability, scalability and usability;
• To evaluate new technology and makes recommendations on technological solutions;
• To ensure technologies are used efficiently, profitably and securely. Track, analyze and monitor technology performance metrics;
• To be responsible for directing and managing IT projects, to ensure projects are completed on time and budget, are adequately tested and documented, personnel trained, implementation appropriately planned and coordinated, and the end product meets the company’s needs;
• To implement and monitor procedures, to proactively identify issues that may impact project scope or timetable early in the project when corrective measures may be taken to minimize the impact on the project.
In order to apply for this role, you must have the following:
• Minimum 10 years of experience in a technological role with 5 years as CTO, managing domestic and international engineering and operation teams;
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; MBA a plus
• Experience with Golang, MySQL, Memcached, and NGINX; knowledge of PHP, Unix/Ubuntu/Centos preferred
• Experience with Vue.js, JS, HTML/CSS, Nodejx, Vuex, and Nux;
• Experience in a digital/e-commerce business that has experienced significant growth
• Developed expertise in system infrastructure and process implementation. A continued passion for technology and desire to stay familiar with the latest available technologies
• Applicable background managing budgets and business-planning
• Strong research skills, and a proven pulse on current technological trends
• Strategic and analytical approach to solving problems
• Aptitude for project management and interpersonal communication in a high-growth setting
• Excellent communication, negotiation, decision-making and organisational skills coupled with sound judgment
• A proven and successful track record demonstrated on previous areas of success and opportunities from previous organisations.
• Bi-lingual English and Mandarin plus a European language highly desirable.
