Job purpose

To lead the details process and prepare the architectural shop drawings from start to finish for all architectural items, ensuring that all shop drawings meet client requirements, are safe and functional, overseeing the development of detailed construction plans using the Revit program.

Key accountability areas

• BIM modeling and analysis: Create detailed shop drawings using the Revit program.
• Building code compliance: Ensure that architectural shop drawings comply with relevant building codes and standards.
• Coordination and collaboration: Coordinate with other trades to solve any conflicts between civil, mechanical, electrical, etc.
• Documentation management: Organize and maintain architectural drawings and documents, including revisions, markups, and as-built drawings.
• Detailing and specification: Develop detailed drawings and specifications for architectural elements, such as doors, windows, finishes, tiles, false ceiling, façade, and materials.
• Presentation and visualization: Prepare presentation materials, renderings, and visualizations to communicate design concepts to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities.
• Quality assurance and review: Review architectural shop drawings and documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
• Construction support: Provide support during the construction phase by responding to requests for information (RFIs), clarifying design intent, and reviewing submittals and shop drawings.
• Outsource: Review subcontractors’ shop drawings as well as outsourced shop drawings and coordinate their approval process with the project consultant.

Role accountability

• Detailing and annotation: Ensuring that drawings are properly annotated with dimensions, notes, and symbols is crucial.
• Interpretation of specifications: Must interpret engineering specifications, sketches, and technical documents accurately to translate them into detailed drawings.
• Drafting software proficiency: Proficiency in drafting software, Revit, for creating shop drawings efficiently and accurately.
• Documentation and record-keeping: Maintaining accurate documentation and records of all drawings, revisions, and project communications is vital for traceability and accountability.
• Communication and collaboration: Effective communication with engineers and designers to clarify requirements, address issues, and ensure alignment throughout the design process.
• Project coordination: Depending on the size and scope of projects, you may be involved in coordinating drawing production schedules and deadlines. Strictly comply with BIM requirements.
• Quality assurance and review: Conduct thorough reviews of the work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
• Shop drawings arrangement: Collaborate with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders to understand their needs, preferences, and project requirements, generate detailed drawings based on the given brief.
• Interpreting design requirements: Must interpret and understand engineering designs, sketches, and specifications to accurately translate them into shop drawings.
• Architectural drafting: Produce detailed architectural drawings, illustrating floor plans, elevations, sections, and other technical drawings necessary for construction.
• Adhering to safety standards: Ensuring that drawings comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations is essential to maintain safety and quality in the project.

Academic qualification

Bachelor degree in Architectural Engineering
