Rugeley School are recruiting for a cook to join their catering team! We are looking for passionate people who can promote healthy eating and provide varied meals that meet the required care standards and contribute to the wellbeing of our children and young people. In this role, you will be responsible for the cooking within the school as well as the menu planning, shopping, and adhering to set budgets within the school to deliver healthy, varied, and nutritious diets for young people and the staff within the school. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring that the kitchen and associated areas are kept to a high standard of hygiene, including food and equipment storage.

The hours for this role are 7am to 3pm Monday to Friday during term time with an extra 10 days working on a 40 weeks per annum contract.

A Level 3 qualification or equivalent is an essential requirement, as well as previous experience preparing and cooking meals gained within a professional kitchen environment along with the following characteristics:

  • Communication u2013 Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Good teamwork and communication play a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.
  • Organisation u2013 You will need to be confident and organised in updating menus, dietary requirements, and reporting information that will be relevant to the care of our young people.
  • Attentive u2013 No young person is the same, so being attentive to understand them and identify areas where we can support is important.
