Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Chief Engineer to join our team in the beautiful coastal city of Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. As the Chief Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving our facilities, ensuring optimal performance, and leading our engineering team to new heights of excellence.

• Oversee daily operations of the engineering department, including preventive and corrective maintenance of building facilities and equipment
• Conduct regular inspections to determine maintenance needs, required equipment, and necessary services
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations by meeting with government and insurance inspectors and implementing required follow-up actions
• Develop and maintain inventory management systems for maintenance supplies, machinery, equipment, and parts
• Monitor and control departmental budgets, implementing cost-effective solutions without compromising quality
• Lead and mentor a team of engineering professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment
• Implement and oversee sustainable engineering practices to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact
• Develop and execute long-term maintenance strategies and capital improvement projects
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and guest satisfaction
• Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements in building systems and maintenance practices

Qualifications

• Licensed Mechanical Engineer, preferably with Professional Mechanical Engineer (PME) certification
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the hotel or resort industry, with a focus on facilities management
• Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and motivate diverse teams
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
• Highly organized with demonstrated capacity to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Proficiency in computerized maintenance systems and general computer applications
• In-depth knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, and safety standards
• Proven track record in project management, CAPEX planning, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Experience with sustainable engineering practices and energy conservation methods
• Thorough understanding of local building codes and regulations in Egypt
• Ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative, cost-effective solutions
• Strong decision-making skills with a goal-oriented and visionary approach
• Certification in engineering or facilities management is a plus
• Flexibility to work in a dynamic resort environment with varying schedules as needed
