Job description

Checks cleanliness of lobby and public areas, lights, as well as front office staff in proper and orderly appearance and behaviour. Greets the VIP guests of the hotel. As directed by the Front Office Manager, performs special services for VIP guests.

Checks registration cards of arriving guests and ensures all information is filled on each card either by Guest Relations Officers or the guests. Assists in VIP arrivals and departures in absence of Guest Relations Officers.

Assists in sending guest messages or faxes.

Gives instructions to the Night Reception during high occupancy periods regarding walk-in guests and releasing rooms blocked because of no-shows.

Assists in handling room lock problems.

Prepares and checks for VIP arrivals and escorts guests to rooms.

Coordinates with all departments concerned in order to maintain front office functions properly. Operates the front office computer system to assist front office attendants.

Checks group department fit and ensures the switchboard makes appropriate wake-up calls.

Handles guest complaints and other related problems and reports them in the Assistant Manager's logbook.

Assists reception, business centre, cashier, concierge, and bell captain when they are busy.

Predicts that all activities and purchased equipment and belongings may create damage to the environment; participates in all activities organized to protect biological diversity and shares responsibilities. Shares individual responsibilities to increase environmental knowledge and carries out necessary trainings. Provides minimum consumption of currently used materials and equipment (paper, printed out, etc.).

Implements necessary warnings and departmental trainings to save energy inside the facility. Continues implementing decisions taken for saving energy. Predicts effects of environment and energy efficiency on purchased equipment.

Implements responsibilities to eliminate and collect waste properly, reduce environmental pollution, and minimize harmful effects on the environment.

Carries out all responsibilities related to quality management and food safety management systems implemented at the facility.

Performs all other duties assigned by managers and hotel management not specified in the job description.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in the industry following theoretical education.
  • Foreign language: Sufficient level of English and Arabic to communicate effectively with guests and employees.
  • Courses and training: Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge.
  • Computer literacy: MS Office applications, front office operating programmes (Fidelio, Opera, etc.).
  • Skills: Expected to have comprehensive technical knowledge and work experience related to the methods, advanced techniques, special equipment, and work processes in the related field. Knows, applies, and ensures application of all services and product ranges in the related field. Has command of guest profiles.
