Engineering Coordinator

The incumbent in this position is responsible for providing support, supervising, scheduling, motivating the hotel maintenance team, and plan all maintenance activities of the hotel.

Closely monitors all processes related to ensuring high level of maintenance works done in the hotel and that they are timely and defect free.

Kempinski Hotel Soma Bay introduces luxurious European service with Egyptian hospitality at the premier holiday destination on Egypt's Red Sea coast. The hotel comprises 325 rooms, including 34 suites with a luxurious interior design. We provide a remarkable dining experience in 6 food & beverages with special culinary highlights. The Fitness Center provides a gym, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and 4 treatment rooms, where certain massages can be arranged through The Cascades Spa & Thalasso. The Soma Bay leisure facilities include diving & snorkeling, tennis & squash as well as golf facilities located just a few minutes away from the hotel.

Key Responsibilities:

- Completes, evaluates and follows up on employee performance reviews TTTT and six month's progress reports on a timely basis.
- Maintains all hotel building and equipment in a good and neat condition.
- Ensures that effective and concise preventative maintenance schedules are followed.
- Plans and implements procedures, systems and controls to ensure an efficient, timely and pro-active engineering department.
- Establishes 5 year plan and department operating budget for submission to management covering costs of heat, light & power and repair & maintenance.
- Communicates maintenance information accurately and effectively to the General Manager, Executive members and Assistant Director of Engineering on a daily basis.
- Prepares an annual, itemized, capital budget to management, including all changes and replacements of mechanical, electrical and water equipment required by all departments.
- Maintains all the fire-life-safety equipment in first class order.
- Ensures that the fire-life-safety team has a complete understanding of all procedures, equipment and alarms.
- Establishes good working relationships with suppliers whom will furnish reliable 24-hour emergency service.
- Compiles a monthly consumption report on heat, light and power to include electricity, gas, steam and water.
- Ensures all engineering team members under the direction of the Assistant Director of Engineering / Director of Engineering are exposed to hotel internal and external training on an on-going basis.
- Ensures effective inter-departmental communication and good relations between the engineering team members and members of fellow departments within the hotel.
- Prepares and follow through on any projects as outlined by General Manager, Director of Engineering and /or Assistant Director of Engineering.Ensures all public areas are patrolled daily and all lighting is in good order.
- Ensures all engineering team members are in complete uniform and well groomed.
- Ensures timely completion of all assigned tasks and responsibilities.
- Develops and maintain an energy conservation program allowing the hotel to meet its annual budget target.
- Prepares purchase requisitions and work orders as well as liaise efficiently with the Purchasing Manager on such matters.
- Supervises maintenance operations whilst ensuring compliance with all engineering policies, procedures, standards and satisfaction of guests' needs.
- Inspects all areas and take corrective measures in order to meet Kempinski Standards in terms of maintenance and hotel upkeep.
- Selects, trains, develops, schedules and manages the performance of direct and indirect subordinates to ensure the efficient running of maintenance operations.
- Coordinates maintenance duties with various departments such as Front Desk, Housekeeping, Sales and Marketing and Food & Beverage to ensure that all guestrooms and public areas are clean and well maintained in a timely and efficient manner.
- Participates in all refurbish and renovation projects planning, execution and final set up including snag lists.Coordinates and review contracts, including elevators, chillers, boilers, fire alarm, smoke detectors, kitchen & laundry equipment, etc and ensure compliance by both parties.
- Participates in the planning and set up for hotel special functions and festive seasons and organize the necessary actions.
- Manages the performance of the agriculture company to meet high quality standards and business results.

Additional responsibilities and tasks can be added at any time according to the needs of the business and of the hotel.

Requirements

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

- Minimum 2 years experience in building technology.
- Very good knowledge of building equipment: heating, ventilation, plumbing, electricity, automatic operation.
- Successful experience in a position of responsibility including management of staff.
- Experience in the maintenance of buildings and facilities HVACR.
- Faculty of analysis, evaluation and decision making in the day-to-day business and in the case of emergency.
- Very good organisation and work planning skills.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate self-confidence, energy, enthusiasm and motivation.
- Very good leadership by leading, motivating and empowering multidisciplinary teams.
