Engineering Manager, 300 – 400 mw Coal Fired Power Plant, Central America

This is your opportunity to join this well established multinational, reporting to the Plant manager and perform an integral role as their right hand ensuring the efficient operation and care for a Coal fired power plant

This reputable international company has exhibited strong performance despite challenging international conditions, they have sought to construct and operate power plants in remote and developing markets supplying power to other business units and simultaneously supplying power to local areas.

Due to a power deficit in developing markets they have identified the need for private sector support to local governments whilst establishing a secondary source of income through the production of power. This is Coal Fired unit is partially under development hence will offer project experience as well as operations and maintenance experience characteristic of this sort of position.

Your overall function will be to manage all engineering aspects of a 300 Mw power plant, you will interact with OEM's, project teams and manage the maintenance department ensuring high levels of engineering integrity within the plant. You and the Plant manager will play a critical role ensuring clearly defined strategies and objectives for maintenance of plant, equipment & facilities for the site. As certain elements are still under construction you will work closely with the project teams ensuring technical and maintenance specifications are addressed during the construction phase.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee the recruitment and training of the Engineering team consisting of local Spanish speaking professionals and international expatriates
- Create a positive working environment through effective team building and ensuring discipline levels are high
- Provide Engineering input in to the construction of the facility including build quality reviews, plus completion and handover documentation
- Develop and implement maintenance systems for the plant, ensure that the supporting infrastructure (Overhead lines etc.) are effectively looked after, you will establish and document a maintenance and engineering strategy and make suitable adjustments
- Support the commissioning of the Power Plant integrating with the project teams
- Develop and implement and operating and capital maintenance budgets
- Ensure strict adherence to percent planned work, adherence to schedule, number of breakdowns etc.) t
- Manage the Engineering Assets to ensure that they produce at their designed capacity and are periodically refurbished to their original condition to ensure optimal life
- Ensure strict adherence to the relevant engineering standards and specifications
- Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence fostering a climate of excellence
- Employ the Information Management System to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status

Remuneration:
Is highly negotiable and will consist of a lucrative expat package including accommodation and expenses.

Requirements

A technical degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with strong experience related to the maintenance of power plants, it is critical that this person has held a similar role for a significant period of time and preferably have worked in expat location previously. Specific coal fired plant CFPP experience will be integral. Please note the site is fairly remote and not a family destination but flexible options are in please to assist those with families
