Global Ops Tax Controller- MENAT

Role Summary:
The GO Tax Controller- MENAT works with the S2T COE Leader to implement and execute all tax related activities as outlined in the S2T ES within the MENAT S2T COE. Partner with Country,Regional, Business, Global Ops and IT tax leadership teams to set and implement world class processes for timely stat and tax compliance across all legal entities in MENAT. Accountable for the delivery of one or more concurrent projects on-time, within budget, to deliver results with the desired impact.

Essential Responsibilities:
-Support the S2T COE leader to develop and implement world class tax operations processes for all legal entity filings throughout the MENAT Pole, in line with the Global Enterprise Standard.
-Implement the Stat 2 Tax Enterprise Standard in addition to Map 20.30 within Global Operations and Business. Provide constructive feedback on process changes as appropriate.
-Manage the wing-to-wing tax accounting process under ASC 740 rules( including reviewing GAAP to stat adjustment for tagging/ deferred tax, Stat to Tax Adjustments and Return to Accrual) for all Global Operations ledgers in MENAT.
-Manage the accounting and reconciliation of all non-US income tax accounts in Global Operations ledgers in MENAT
-Calculate tax installment amounts for Legal Entities in scope based on requirements defined by country tax directors
-Support the filing of in-scope corporate income tax, VAT and withholding tax returns after appropriate review by Tax leaders
-Calculate in-scope tax settlements and prepare annual RTA/FAS 109 calculations
-Support data gathering for tax audit requests in partnership with Country/ Regional/ Business Tax teams
-Own Tax account reconciliation responsibilities
-Centralize, co-ordinate and drive efficiencies in transfer pricing data gathering to meet local reporting and business analytics requirements
-Regional FP&A forecast on cash tax to global tax team for Global Operations managed entities in the region
-Access and monitor uncertain tax positions and advise on appropriate reserves under FIN48/FAS 5 rules for US GAAP purposes for all entities under COE scope and partner with Business Tax Controllers to ensure proper booking of reserves in business ledgers
-Manage transactional tax processes (VAT and WHT) for Global Operations
-Partner with Sub- Regional S2T Leaders to manage the relationship with Tax Adivsors/ Country Tax Directors to drive efficient & effective tax processes (CIT/ VAT/WHT tax returns preparation, tax audit support, FAS 109 completion)
-Lead largely through strong influencing and change management skills. Look for the best solutions by seeking, sharing, and partnering with others in order to identify best practices globally for simplification and adopt to MENAT region

Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:
-College degree in Finance or Accounting
-8 years of experience with Statutory/Tax filings, with focus on Tax Ccontrollership, preferably within GE or with a Big4
-ACCA or CPA qualified
-Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS GAAP & ability to identify efficiently identify the drivers to G2S differences & tagging
-Prior experience in managing the tax accounting/tax compliance affairs in a pan-regional role, Knowledge of Tax IT applications
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills
-Self-starter & a quick learner with a commitment to meet deadlines
-Strong attention to details & experience with data analytics
-Ability to identify risk areas which can impact the timeliness and accuracy of the filing milestones and propose solutions
-Strong PC skills, experience with ERP and reporting systems
-Fluent in English and Arabic , oral and written (French is a plus)

Desired Characteristics:
-Prior experience in managing the tax accounting/compliance affairs in a pan-regional role, Knowledge of Tax IT applications
-Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in US GAAP accounting for income taxes and tax compliance processes
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills
-Leadership or Manager experience
-Adaptable/flexible: open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or ability to work in ambiguous situations
-Integrity: Accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions and when dealing with others
