Description

Egypt Education Platform is excited to invite applications for the position of Humanities Head of Department & Teacher for the academic year 2026-2027 at GEMS British International School of Madinaty. This role is an exceptional opportunity for a visionary leader who is passionate about the social sciences and is committed to fostering an engaging and rigorous learning environment.

Job location: Madinaty, New Cairo.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the Humanities department, providing strategic direction and instructional leadership to ensure high-quality educational experiences for all students.
  • Design, implement, and assess an innovative and comprehensive Humanities curriculum adhering to the Egyptian National Curriculum standards.
  • Support, mentor, and collaborate with Humanities teachers, promoting professional growth and a collaborative team culture.
  • Monitor and assess student performance within the department, using data to identify areas of improvement and drive student success.
  • Create and maintain a stimulating classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, discussion, and engagement in the social sciences.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, stakeholders, and the school community regarding departmental initiatives, student progress, and educational outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other departments to develop interdisciplinary projects and integrated learning experiences that enrich the curriculum.
  • Stay informed about current developments in Humanities education, advocating for best practices and innovative teaching methods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Education, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferable.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Humanities education, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of social sciences and history education, combined with expertise in curriculum design and pedagogical best practices.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of inspiring and developing teaching staff.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills to foster productive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Analytical skills to effectively utilize assessment data for instructional decision-making and enhancement of student outcomes.
  • Commitment to professional development and the promotion of a culture of excellence within the Humanities department.
  • PGCE certificate will be a plus.
