I&C Field Engineer

Job description / Role

• Review customer’s inquiry package, technical sales support in all I&C applications
• Technical customer consulting for all I&C machinery problems
• First level trouble shooting on all I&C applications, contribution to problem- and damage-analyses
• Regular participation in customer visits, pre-bid, bid review, and kickoff meetings, coordination of all activities with sales force
• Elaboration of customized retrofit solutions for I&C systems
• Feedback and tracking of all incidents relevant for product safety (near misses; damages, malfunctions, etc.)
• Cooperation with responsible headquarter engineering
• Support of F/S personnel and commissioning engineers regarding I&C problems
• Evaluate customer specifications and data sheets, interpret data to advise sales and develop technical quotation, technical drawings, schematics and reports
• Issue data sheets and curves for quotations, budget proposals and feed studies
• Coordinate the split of factory supplied components and local supplied components
• Issue specifications and request for quotations for sub supplied components
• Bid comparison between all sub supplier quotations
• Prepare cost estimate of I&C solutions in regard turbomachinery equipment including costs for relevant options requested by the customer
• Prepare technical proposals including comments to customer specifications
• Respond to questions and clarifications from customer subsequent to proposal submission; technical bid clarification
• Coordinate any kind of technical clarification with sub suppliers including requests for revised quotations
• Training of customers and briefing of Field Service personnel regarding all technical features and functions of the entire scope of I&C supply
• Ensure technical compliance of the scope of supply with all relevant locally binding rules and standards

Requirements

• Bachelor/ Master degree in automation engineering or equal technical education
• Broad understanding of operational behavior of turbomachinery and their principle control philosophies
• Experience in programming of various I&C systems (Siemens S7, PCS7, Rockwell AB, HIMA, etc)
• Knowledge of thermodynamics, aerodynamics, rotor-dynamics that apply to all compressors-/ turbines and corresponding industry standards
• Experience in sourcing and validating suppliers, vendor and supplier management, understanding of customer processes
• Basic sales skills and a general understanding of sales processes
• Results driven, ability to develop and retain key business targets, consultant and customer relationships
• Ability to liaise and communicate at all levels in the business, outgoing and motivated to collaborate with a wide range of different people
• Engaged and proactive approach combined with sustained follow-up skills
• Assertive, self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as within a team
• Organizational skills, high accuracy and technical precision
• English language fluently
