Thales in Egypt is part of our Middle East business that has 1,800 people across Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait, KSA, Lebanon, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar and UAE.Together We delivered fare collection and control and communication systems for the first metro line in Africa, Metro Line 1 in Cairo. Since then we have continued to bring growth and security and safety to the country by upgrading these transportation systems as well as providing solutions for customers in air traffic management, air defence and Navy.

Job Objective

As part of a virtual team (s), be responsible for the production of designs, design estimates, design programs and design work packages for bids, services and projects to contract requirements, standards, budget, and on-time delivery.

Roles & Responsibilities

- Production of designs for projects and bids under the direction of a Work Package Manager (WPM), ensuring that the design conforms to client requirements including quoted standards and specifications. The compliance to relevant statutory documentation is mandatory.
- Production of estimates for design solutions ensuring that compliant solutions at optimum cost are identified.
- Produce design resource and budget data for use by the WPM
- Produce quality metrics to measure the soundness of the design processes under your control or working to
- Working with project planners to provide detailed input to specific project programs.
- Production and checking of design work package documentation for projects.
- Assist the WPM to undertake the role of Designer as identified in the CDM regulations, with particular attention to design risks. Ensure that safety risks are designed out or deemed "as low as reasonably practicable."
- Take part in Design Reviews, with particular attention to the reduction of design risks.
- Undertake Cost Reviews as part of a Bid team.
- When deemed competent to do so, undertake equipment/system testing as required and within the limits of your agreed competency.
- Undertake the role of WPM for allocated projects.
- Deputise for the WPM when required to do so.

Requirements

Work Experience Requirements

- A proven record of working in an H/W engineering environment.
- Has attained 4 or more key skills
- Has supported other grades in key skills development.
- Has acted as WPM for design only contracts

Qualifications, Certification & Educational Requirements

- Able to use a range of IT tools.
- Has a sound ability to use design tools to produce complex designs.
- Has a working knowledge of the CDM regulations.
- Can manage configuration control.
- Can manage a design through a defined design process including CORUS2.
- Can produce metrics as part of Quality control.
- A working knowledge of project plans.
- Has a working knowledge of Engineering Safety Management
- HNC in an appropriate subject or equivalent
- An IRSE Designer Licence or equivalent
