We are offering exciting opportunities for lawyers qualified in Egypt to join our Legal Department in Cairo as an Attorney.

Job Description

The Attorney is a member of the legal team in the North Middle East (NME) GeoMarket, who, under the supervision of the Legal Counsel, Egypt & East Mediterranean, assists with the provision of legal support to Schlumberger operations in Egypt & East Mediterranean.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

• Provide legal support to operations in order to ensure compliance with local regulations and Schlumberger Code of Ethics, including carrying out Operations Assurance Reviews.
• Interact with all other support functions of Schlumberger ensuring the Legal Department's involvement in all matters that may have a legal impact to the company.
• Assist in the implementation of legal procedures, practices, guidelines and templates.
• Assist with the management of disputes and litigations (i.e. follow up, updates, etc.).
• Assist in managing and supervising outside counsels.
• Manage the corporate files and follow-up with the relevant authorities and stakeholders the various corporate matters across multiple legal entities.
• Collaborate with the Middle East & Asia Legal Support Center team based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for all Egypt & East Mediterranean related matters including contracts review and drafting, regulatory compliance, implementation of the company's ethics and compliance program, labor issues, legal knowledge management, disputes and litigation, IP and corporate legal tasks.
• Contribute to the Legal Department's knowledge management program by capturing and sharing lessons learned from his/her legal matters and making useful legal content available on the Legal Knowledge Management portal.

Requirements

Qualifications Required:

• University degree in law with strong academic credentials.
• Qualified to practice law in Egypt.

Skills Required:

• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate comfortably at all levels within the organization and across borders.
• An ability to work both on own initiative and within a team in an open-plan and dynamic environment.
• Highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with the ability to pro-actively organize and prioritize a heavy workload and demonstrate excellent analytical abilities.
• Proficiency in English and in Arabic.
• Technologically literate and comfortable with Microsoft Office.

Experience:

• 2-4 years of experience working within an in-house legal team or in private practice.
