About the role

Purpose of the job
The Climate & Transformation Department is responsible for a diverse number of strategic and transversal programs, with a special focus on climate. Within the Climate Department, the candidate will be working on circularity, waste, and resources, mainly with the Supply Chain, Devices, Network, and Facilities teams. To make this happen, the Senior Manager, Circular Economy and Climate Engagement needs to be actively engaged in communication (internal and external) to drive culture change and achieve KPIs. Typically, the candidate will be passionate about sustainability, with strong research, communication, and streamlining skills, be able to manage stakeholder relationships, and have a positive, can-do attitude.

This role has scope for the successful candidate to truly make their mark within Orange Egypt and the industry at large, with the opportunity to work and grow as part of a dynamic team and working environment.

Duties and responsibilities

As accountable for the Circular Economy Transformation:

  • Lead the Switch to Circular Economy Value Chains (Switch to CE) program on behalf of Orange Egypt, led by UNIDO, which involves a diverse number of stakeholders since by working in partnership, the value chain actors can improve the circularity of their products. The support available through SWITCH is in the form of capacity development, technical expertise, circular ecosystem development, and access to finance. The overall objective is to support the transformation towards a circular economy, including to: (a) contribute to sustainable growth, (b) low carbon and climate resilient development, (c) decent jobs creation, and (d) safer, healthier, and pollution-free environment.
  • Within the Electronic and ICT industry, Orange Egypt is committed to 5 workstreams that require absolute commitment and attention to detail: (a) boost use of refurbished network equipment (OSCAR), (b) establish a refurbishment centre, (c) e-waste collection (RE), (d) communication and community outreach, and (e) capacity building. These workstreams require diligence and commitment to the weekly meetings, follow-up on action points, and alignment with OEG teams to fulfill actions.
  • Coordinate and align with cross-functional teams in compliance with timeline, budget, and fit for the purpose.
  • Refine and review external and internal communications content/activities produced/planned (content developed for the website, artworks, social media content, press releases, events, awards, etc.) for the Switch to CE to accurately and consistently reflect the pilot externally and internally, in alignment with all stakeholders (UNIDO, agency, etc.).
  • Support OEG's position on the pilot amongst Group affiliates subject to Chief of Staff, Climate & Transformation Officer's directions.
  • Launch e-waste collection campaigns to achieve devices collection of 20% by year-end 2025.
  • Additionally, duties may include preparation for ExCo and events (planned and unplanned). Hence, preparation and follow-up including agendas, documentation (MoM and action points), and when needed, create, develop, and produce CEOs presentations (external events, roadshows, conferences, public events, etc.).

As accountable for Climate Engagement:

  • Internal and external communication is crucial for the transformation from a linear to circular economy because it requires that everyone must be onboard, both employees and the public.
  • Animate the monthly Green Committee meetings, prepare the speaker, content, and record the minutes of the meeting and follow up on it.
  • Interact with employees via the GreenBox, an internal email suggestion channel on climate.
  • Launch annual or semi-annual climate campaigns to raise awareness starting by the budget exercise, followed by finance approval (Investment and Expenses Committee), full-fledged internal communication engagement plan mapped with calendar events, with themed messages aligned with strategy and targets, which includes on-ground activations, workshops, social media messages, desktop messages, branding.
  • Engage in workshops, seminars, and conferences to represent OEG, stay on top of market trends, explore partnerships, including the monthly Sustainable Development Club by the French Embassy and our partners Orange Business and Orange Labs.
  • Identify seminars, conferences, awards, and publications, whereby the Chief of Staff, Climate & Transformation Officer can showcase OEG's climate vision, plans, and achievements. Once a channel relevance is validated and approved, proceed by drafting the discussion topics/content.
  • Work closely with the Training and Development to organize training and certifications to benefit relevant stakeholders, in addition to push online climate trainings to achieve a 100% completion by year-end 2025.
  • Produce and publish the annual OEG's ESG Report in compliance with GRI standards amongst other standards, starting by the agency selection, data gathering, content development, and approval of design, layout, and words of Chief Climate Officer and Chief Executive Officer followed by its registration under the relevant organization, e.g., GRI. Promote the ESG Report across internal and external communication channels.

Job specification

Education
Bachelor degree from a reputable university.

Skills and abilities

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills with an ability to turn complex subject matter into clear, simple, accessible, and gripping language.
  • Fluent or native speaker in English and Arabic; another language is always a plus!
  • Excellent presentation, documentation, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Strong strategic analysis, with experience in program management and development, corporate communication, partnership, and business development.
  • Leadership, management, and team-playing competencies; an ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Ability to facilitate sessions with a wide spectrum of stakeholders, both in person and online.
  • Ability to learn fast, including complex technical subject matters; identify opportunities and adapt.
  • Ability to embrace change and lead transformation processes.
  • Ability to work remotely ensuring timely delivery.
  • Organized, committed, diligent, proactive, and qualitative with a sharp eye for detail.
