Job overview

Devonshire House is a large co-educational nursery and prep school in Hampstead, North London, on the cusp of a transformational period of positive change, intent on offering an outstanding education in every sense for its pupils and their parents.

For the third academic year in a row, Devonshire House Nursery School has welcomed almost 100 children aged between 2 and 3 years old. Due to strong demand for our outstanding nursery offering we are expanding to offer more children the opportunity to benefit from our well-regarded Early Years provision and will be opening an additional nursery class in January 2026.

At Devonshire House we combine a blended educational philosophy for Early Years pupils combining traditional school values with modern, progressive teaching methods; a carefully scaffolded, play-based, hands-on approach.

Devonshire House aims to recruit the best teachers and leaders available and retain them by providing an attractive package and scope for career advancement. This is augmented by its engaged governance as part of Dukes Education, which promotes inter-school collaboration and collegiality.

We are seeking a passionate Early Years Key Person to join our dynamic team. The position available is to work in a class of 2-3 year olds and will suit a Level 3 or above qualified professional. As an Early Years Practitioner, you will work closely with a small group of children, following their progress and development and feeding back to parents.

Closing date: Friday 10th October 2025, 9.00 am.

We encourage you to apply before the closing date as we reserve the right to arrange interviews and close this advert before the closing date if we receive applications from exceptional candidates.

All applicants need to have a right to work in the UK to be considered for the role.

Devonshire House Preparatory School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service. Devonshire House Preparatory School is an equal opportunities employer. If the candidate has lived in a country other than the UK for a period of 3 months or more since the age of 18, a foreign criminal policy check will be required irrespective of whether they worked in those countries.
