Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

We are currently looking to recruit a Patent Specialist to be based in Egypt (Cairo) or Jordan (Amman) in our Intellectual Property Department.

The Role:

• Patent filing and prosecution of patent applications in the Arab countries, including managing, preparing, and/or filing patent applications, formality documents, responses to office actions, publications and payment of official fees; processing, docketing and reporting notifications from patent offices;
• Managing tasks of others including patent administrators and translators;
• Managing admin work such as docketing and invoices;
• Conducting/reviewing English-Arabic translations of technical patent documents including specifications and claims of patent applications;
• Conduct patent searches;

• Line manager: Partner & Head of Patents and Designs
• Patent offices
• External clients
• Patents regional team

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• Background in life sciences, preferably chemical engineering or pharmaceutical;
• 3-8 years of experience either in patent filing and prosecution in a law firm or in examination of patent applications at a patent office;
• Excellent written and communication skills both in Arabic and English (French is a plus);
• Regional experience
• Degree in law or diploma in intellectual property is a plus;
