Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Business Context and Main Challenges of the Job:

- To drive the development of FWA strategic direction in achieving world-class standards in engineering services in the soaps factory.

Main Accountabilities:

- Is responsible for execution of planned maintenance activities including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and breakdown maintenance
- Is responsible for ensuring safe working standards in terms of machine interlocks, safeguards of machines and protection of movement parts.
- Is responsible for line troubleshooting to eliminate major chronic and sporadic defects in the machines and equipments.
- Is responsible for Life cycle extension of the equipment by implementing corrective maintenance and support the early management activities pillar.
- Is responsible for cost reduction of repair and maintenance activities in the factory.
- Is responsible for ensuring a high efficiency in the production lines by tackling the main source & cause of breakdowns.
- Is responsible for line operation during innovation trials and presenting the trial report.
- Is responsible for line operation during new machine commissioning and ramp up phase

Key Skills and Competencies:

- Technical - Dependant on Engineering Discipline the Single-Skilled Technician should be technically expert in the core manufacturing requirements specific to his qualification:
- Mechanical - Conduct machinery assembly, sub-assembly and component repairs.
- Safety - Utilize appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products and equipment to ensure a safe working environment for the whole team.
- Environment - Reduce costs due to waste and minimize impact to health, safety and the environment through working to eliminate waste and through the correct management of waste and hazardous materials.
- Quality - Ensure that all aspects of Quality within the area of responsibility are in accordance with local Quality procedures to protect and promote the brand and product.
- Leadership - Promote the development of a highly effective team through strong communication, leading by example whilst keeping focused on goals and targets. Great teams and great leaders will achieve superior performance.
- Continuous Improvement - Use performance measures to identify and prioritise losses in production area. Apply rigorous Cost Deployment and the Zero loss concept to eliminate losses.
- Problem Solving - Has the ability to identify, priorities and address problems using appropriate tools and techniques that eliminate recurrence.

Requirements

Other Requirements:

- Must be flexible within pattern of shift work to accommodate factory shutdowns, training courses etc and emergency cover

Relevant Experience

- University degree in industrial , mechanical or electrical engineering
- Safety and quality working Knowledge. TPM / WCM fully operational is recommended
- Fully operational in automation, and instrumentation
- Strong leadership, and high quality of communication and influencing
