Role Summary:

The Steam Turbine Customer Engineer provides expertise and technical support in servicing steam turbines in the MENAT region. Define scope and technical recommendations during outage preparation, and dispositions on outage findings. Leads projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business and is a recognized expert in a specialized field. The position spans the wide range of own fleet and oOEM technologies across combined cycle and thermal power plants.

Essential Responsibilities:

- Work on technical proposals, providing scope descriptions and guidance on manpower loading, schedule and tooling.
- Review unit history to identify improvements.
- Optimize and make use of outage standards for regional deployment.
- Participate in outage preparation to provide engineering recommendations.
- Prepare engineering documentation packages for assigned outages.
- Write technical packages for locally sourced material and services.
- Recommend approach to meeting the technical and program requirements of assigned projects.
- Perform field assessments/surveys of steam turbine and steam turbine auxiliaries.
- Formulate and implement field testing, repairs and modifications to achieve technical requirements.
- Execute designs and analysis of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments.
- Coordinate with product centers and other internal GE teams to develop customer solutions.
- Provide support to sales and outage executions team on technical discussions with customer.

Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent qualifications.
- At least 10-15 years of field experience with extensive exposure to steam turbines.
- Expertise on GE, Alstom, Siemens or MHI Steam Turbines.
- Good working knowledge on power plant equipment and systems.
- Fluency in English.

- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems.
- Strong background in at least one of the following areas: gas turbines, steam turbines power plant operation or maintenance.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- PC proficiency.
- Ability to guide and influence others.
- Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work.
- Able to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
- Able to lead remote teams.
- Proficiency in other languages would be an advantage.
- Ability to travel freely in all MENAT region countries.
