Role Summary:

New Gas turbine and power generation technologies exist that support in providing incremental performance improvement and revitalization to existing power plant assets. The large volume of orders created by these new technology advances and available upgrades require talented individuals with the right mix of technical and problem-solving skills.

Essential Responsibilities:

This position involves preparing Conversion, Modification & Uprate (CM&U) technical proposals (including research, technical description, performance, emissions and cost definition), supporting engineering deliverables and engaging in the solution of field issues. In this role, you will utilize conceptual thinking and the ability to quickly determine applicability of GE technology to various gas turbine configurations. You will provide technical support and creative solutions to drive sales and business opportunities specifically in the AIM region. You will lead projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business.

- Prepare technical proposals for Gas Turbine Conversions, modifications and upgrades.
- Works with Sales & CommOps to define customer's current & future goals for their assets
- Defines high level technology to meet customer goals
- Actively participates in R0/R1 meeting to define and shape opportunities
- Executes the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
- Recommends approach to meet the technical and program requirements.
- Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, scheduling, and contract commitments.
- Develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems.
- Provide technical guidance to other personnel and assigned teams; mentor others in the organization.
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
- Monitor and communicate project status, business issues, and significant developments.
- Lead or participate in organizational efforts in assigned projects and/or tasks.
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.
- Coordinate with various internal GE teams to develop & lead customer solutions.
- Provide support to sales team for technical discussions with customer.
- Present technical solutions at user conference or similar forums.

Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
- At least 10 years of experience in an engineering, field service and/or technical product position with extensive exposure to gas turbines.
- Exposure & expertise on GE or Alstom Gas turbines preferred.
- Fluency in English and Arabic is a must

- Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
- Strong background in at least one of the following areas: gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, power plant operation or maintenance.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- PC proficiency
- Ability to guide and influence others
- Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work
- Able to work effectively in a multicultural environment
- Able to lead remote teams
- Proficiency in other languages would be an advantage
- Ability to travel freely in all Middle East/Africa region countries
