Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Client is a leading international contractor who work on oil and gas and construction projects throughout the world. They are currently looking for an experienced senior welding engineer to be based at their corporate had office in Athens.

The role will include;
• Planning preparation and qualification of the WPS’s (proposals and final) for all fabrication and erection piping scope. Monitoring and coordinating project activities (corporate office based as well as offsite) for the preparation testing and approvals of the PQR’s. Updating registers of approved and qualified WPs/PQR’s.
• Preparation and implementation of quality control procedures as well as inspection and testing plans pertaining to welding/fabrication of piping and steel structures.
• To review technical specifications, determining cost, quality and time impact.
• Performs technical audits of project sites to ensure effective implementation of fabrication/welding controls.
• Explore and recommend novel and established welding technology that can improve productivity and welding performance at the company’s work-sites
• Monitor welding performance at the projects in his area of responsibility; analyze trends and propose corrective and preventive actions, where applicable.
• Training of welding personnel (welding supervisors/foremen etc)
• Liaising with the Client’s and the Project Welding Engineer on all matters in his domain.
• To assist the site based project team in fulfilling the operational requirements for welding activities for project execution in a cost-efficient, effective and safe manner.
• To provide specialist welding support for tendering and pre-qualification purpose when required.

Requirements

Candidates should have a degree in mechanical or metallurgical engineering and must be a certified welding engineer (hold of international/european welding engineer certificate (IWE/EWE) or equivalent) Further qualifications in welding inspection, NDT and quality management will be considered an advantage.

Candidates should have at least 10 years experience in the construction or manufacturing industry with at least 5 years hands on experience in welding engineering and will preferably have experience in he oil ad gas sector.

Candidates should have extensive experience with piping materials including LTCS, SS, DSS and SDSS and with most common piping welding processes such as manual, semi/automatic and mechanised. Candidates should have expert knowledge of all local and international welding codes and standards
