Welding Engineer - Corporate - Oil & Gas Construction

Job description / Role

Required to work for a leading contractor working within petrochemical, pipeline construction. The successful candidate will manage overall welding operation and related quality matters ensuring they are in compliance with ISO 9002 including undertaking failure analysis; welding related problems diagnostic and propose corrective actions and solutions. They will lead a team of experts in handling the technical issues related to metallurgy, welding and destructive & non-destructive testing

Other responsibilities include
• Review and assess welding documentation during bidding for new contracts
• Assist with Project execution and quality control on projects
• Analysis of welding KPIs/Stats from a Corporate view

Requirements

Applicants should meet the following criteria
• BSc Degree, Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering.
• Certified Welding Engineer (Holder of International/European Welding Engineer (IWE/EWE) Certificate or equivalent)
• Sound technical knowledge and extensive experience in welding processes (SMAW, SAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW etc.).
• Fully conversant with international codes and standards (ANSI/ASME, API, ASTM, AWS, NACE, ISO, etc.) used in oil and gas industry.
• Must have extensive working experience with piping/pipelines materials including LTCS, SS, DSS, SDSS, alloys 825/625, clad pipes, X60, X65, X70, etc. and with most common piping & pipeline welding processes (manual, semi-/mechanized, mechanized).
• Technical knowledge of corrosion, fracture, fatigue creep embrittlement behavior of welded joints and materials used in oil and gas industry.
• In addition, the candidate must possess good planning and presentation skills.
• Having at least 20 years relevant experience in the construction of onshore oil & gas or petrochemical industries facilities (pressure vessels, mechanical fabrication, pipelines, piping, etc.)
